altersteve Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I remember reading this on CARM once, where Matt Slick, the president of CARM and a critic of the Church, wrote an article criticizing Joseph's claim of seeing the Father face-to-face, and cited 1 Timothy 6:13–16, which states that "the King of kings, and Lord of lords" cannot be seen, nor will he ever be seen. Of course, we know that the King of kings and the Lord of lords is Jesus Christ, whereas Mr. Slick states that "it cannot be the Son who is spoken of here" since "Jesus was obviously seen since people walked with him." So what is this verse saying? Obviously, people have seen the Father. The first who comes to mind is Stephen, who saw the Father and the Son standing side-by-side before he was stoned to death. So what was Paul saying when he said that Jesus Christ and/or Heavenly Father cannot be seen? Obviously they both can, because the Bible testifies of this several times.
bluebell Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 D&C 67:11 is an answer to this issue:"For no man has seen God at any time in the flesh, except quickened by the Spirit of God."

Doctor Ninja Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 If God is able to create the world and all His creations within, then He is also able to show himself to those creations if He so chooses.
BCSpace Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 If God is able to create the world and all His creations within, then He is also able to show himself to those creations if He so chooses. So you're saying there is something God cannot do (show Himself to mortals) according to EV doctrine?
Doctor Ninja Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 So you're saying there is something God cannot do (show Himself to mortals) according to EV doctrine?Or hide double standards. God can show Himself to Biblical prophets, but not to modern day prophets.

As Christ himself said, if ye have seen me, ye have seen the Father.Next........ Edited July 1, 2011 by cdowis
shalamabobbi Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 So you're saying there is something God cannot do (show Himself to mortals) according to EV doctrine?God cannot do anything apart from the bible. It is the bible that has power, not God.. 1
