Bill “Papa” Lee Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 A couple of weeks ago one of my co-workers was out of breath, but still trying to do this physically demanding job. A few of us sat him down and told his to go see a Doctor before he hurt himself out here. He did
Blossom Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I'm very sorry for your loss. I said a prayer for you and his family before posting this message. A few years ago when I was in the Army, my Executive Officer had a heart attack in our office and I came back to find him on the floor. I called 911 for the medics and started CPR but he was gone despite all our efforts. It is very difficult to lose friends and co-workers, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and his family today.Blessings,Blossom
Zakuska Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 (edited) My condolences too Pa Pa.My Mother has diabetes too and some of my siblings have been diagnosed with it. Once in a whole I get low blood sugars too and it seems for the same reasons as you (ie skipping meals). My Dr. has also been real concerned with my liver function and blood work for 4 or 5 years now. My black birthday is this year and I was really feeling my age. Stiff Ankels and joints. Shortness of breath. I recently started a new Job with a health and wellness company and so I get free product quite often. Ive been taking one of their products and it has REALLY helped. I posted this a while ago and I'm not sure if you saw it. Im not advertizing, but just sharing what I have found thats has made a world of difference in how I feel, mentally, physically, emotionaly and spiritually. It also helps with liver function and regulating blood sugar levels. You might want to give it a try. The stuff is expensive but if it makes me feel this good its worth it!http://www.mormondia...__p__1208966085Merril Osmond is in one of the adds endorsing it. (Not that celeberities give mor credit for a product) Edited February 3, 2011 by Zakuska
nicolasconnault Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Type 1 Diabetic here, 5 insulin injections a day, diagnosed in 2006. Juggling daily with food intake, exercise and insulin dosage in order to maintain stable blood glucose. Hypos are scary but they're not the killers: long-term, sustained high blood glucose is the time bomb.I would suggest you help your employer and fellow employees learn a bit more about diabetes. It's a very misunderstood disease, even among some medical practitioners, but there is plenty of good info out there that can help correct common misunderstandings. Information is power, and if you and your employer are well-informed, there is no reason why you should lose your job because of diabetes. My condolences for your colleague, I hope his family and friends grieve well and receive comfort from the Spirit.

ERMD Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 He likely did not die of diabetes. More probable is a condition that stemmed from and was worsened by undiagnosed/uncontrolled diabetes.Condolences.
Kenngo1969 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I fear that my employers are going to take a look at this knowing I have diabetes. Please accept my sincerest condolences to you on your loss. A lawyer would probably tell you that your employer cannot discriminate against you because of your Diabetes, but don't assume that's what your bosses have in mind. They're probably concerned for your welfare, just as they were your departed coworker's welfare. The best thing you can do to allay their concerns is to stay well yourself: eat when you need to eat (and eat well), take your Insulin when you're supposed to do that, et cetera.
