  1. If it adheres to recent behavior, it will include Elder Holland who is next in line for Presidency. It's been several presidencies ago when one of the prophets spoke about how hard it is to be put in that position without some experience. The challenge is that neither Elder Holland nor next in line Elder Eyring (who has also had presidency training already) can travel because of their health. And First Presidency travel is important in our world where half of our members live outside the US. Elder Uchtdorf is next but he already has had some training in the Presidency. Did you notice that they had to go deep to Elder Bednar for the Michigan shooting/fire response?
  2. He said he was going to do it, left a note to that effect at home and told his roomie where to find it. The gun belonged to his grandfather. He has been shooting it for years. He admitted he did it. Of course in our world people claim conspiracies. I'm inclined when something walks like a duck, talks like a duck, looks like a duck, to believe it is a duck.
  3. It will never cease to amaze me how and why people desire to control the entire world and every one in it, but only if they get to choose what is okay or not. Can't help but wonder how our world could be better by teaching truth without putting down those who don't recognize truth at the moment.
  4. No one has to tell parents: when someone has their names removed, they are no longer connected as children to their parents in their parents records in LDS Tools. They are no longer sealed to their parents. That isn't an inheritance thing. It is a brokenhearted thing. (Maybe also if you are so short sighted in this then we have a hard time thinking that more money is going to be spent in any good way.) (And I tend to think pretty silly anyway if you really don't believe in the truth claims then why do you care what church records say or don't say).
  5. Just wondering whether things are improving for your area. Thinking of you and the area challenges.
  6. The Lord's belonging is valid baptism. And a member who hasn't attended a single church meeting for 75 years, remains a member with access to the gift of the Holy Ghost. Why do mortals think they are entitled to exclude members on criteria that God doesn't use?
  7. Because the act of seeking and trying helps us become like Him. Anything else suggests that we believe there is only one right way to do His will and I'm not persuaded of that idea.
  8. I think it is because sometimes we can hear X, ,when what the Holy Ghost was saying was H. Because we have lay leadership, most of us have had personal experience with seeking to hear Him, thinking we had heard Him, only to later know for sure that we had not done what we thought He wanted us to do. That is more about mortal fallibility, not about what He is doing or teaching or wants for us. (And it isn't a bad thing for us to have those kinds of experiences either: it helps us understand that there is no need to think badly when it happens, that is is because of sin or hubris or ??? Just that we ought to be thankful that it is well established we are responsible only for our own transgressions.)
  9. Have you looked in "wayback machine" or contacted the author ?
  10. My own experience with the Christus statute at the Hill Cumorah was that there simply wasn't enough room for how it is used (at least in SLC where I'd regularly spent hours sitting with it, communing and I wasn't generally the only one). The Hill Cumorah center is much much smaller and the exhibits (3 years ago) when I was there cramped. There are a lot of site specific exhibits that are needed at that site.
  11. "Moms" and "Dads" on trek assignments are sometimes allowed to bring their bio children on treks (though I don't think so much recently).
  12. I don't see this as I put in a dime and get a firecracker. And I'm not sure He can make a baby shut up and go to sleep ---- seems to me that is part of the baby's body, and the temp of the home, and what they ate and when and a whole lot of things other things that are just part of any earthly journey. I'd be working on my own patience with that child because with that, I can manage most things.
  13. I heard the take. My own take is that even at 7 years old, Joseph Smith would have had experience with what alcohol does to people. And maybe he didn't want that for himself. He was even then called for a special purpose: his Heavenly Parents would have been acutely aware of him in every moment (as they are with us all).
  14. You'll recall that Mormon had a vision about what to include in what we call the Book of Mormon. Perhaps it wasn't for those who heard it orally, but for us in this time?
  15. I hope you are considering placing the bear in a facility that rehabs them for their native life. Taking her away isn't going to help her fulfill the measure of her creation.

Thanks so much for letting us know. I too am happy she is whole again forever. I hope the OP will post her obituary when it becomes available.
  17. The wedding gift I appreciated most is an atomic clock that still tells time in my living room some 40 years later and leaves me thinking of my SP's family (the gifter) every time I look at it. But cash can also be good.
  18. The Catcher was a Spy now on Amazon Prime and then to sundance.
  19. And why do hymns have to rhyme in every language?
