A Jewish friend of mine has this picture in his signature for his emails. Anyone know its origins?

Looks somewhat like a Tibetan Buddhist Dharma wheel, with magen David in the center:

Or it may be a Vedic (Hindu) Anahata chakra symbol;

In each case, the Jewel is in the Lotus (Aum mani padme hum).

That seems rather impulsive.  Are you Jewish or Hindu, or are you just attracted to the superficial image of it?

I have several tattoos already. I love studying Judaism and ANE. I'm currently looking for a Byzantine heretic branding to have as a tattoo.

Not sure it helps, but the band Tool is fond of the six-pointed star.  And eyeballs.  Lots & lots of eyeballs.  If yours had eyeballs--that would narrow it down considerable...
