Egyptian Alphabet And Grammar - Any Way To Distance Joseph Smith From It?

Here is one much like that is the image crixus posted, but with the tail on the ground. It could be identified as a tripod.

And much closer to the description than the one I found due to it having actual legs and not just lines though mine might be described as more 'tripody' due to the more equivalent nature of the legs with the tail in length and distance apart. Edited by calmoriah

Then follows the description of the glyph using Lucy's terms.

Why would Lucy bother to say something like "the serpent is standing on the tip of its tail" when the picture is right before them? (I may be misunderstanding you...pardon if so).

I was referring to Haven writing "and had his head in Eve's ear." Presumably the glyph as she saw or remembered it had it's head at or near or in the female figure's ear. Referring to the female figure as "Eve" would have probably been Lucy's term.

This could be a tough call. I would say Haven is connecting what Mother Smith is saying about Eve to the serpent she is describing. Since even here (let alone throughout her letter), she is treating Lucy's reading with a great deal of skepticism, I would say she is not venturing her own interpretation. "One" of the things Lucy "interpreted" was "Mother Eve being tempted by the serpent." Then follows the description of the glyph using Lucy's terms.

That is what I was trying to point out. Charlotte was both interpreting the scene based on Lucy's terms and explantions and probably adding her own description of the scene. I really think that she was describing a different scene from a different scroll than the one Oliver described.

I apologize for the "e" if put in "tagriffy".

It's also possible she is describing a different scene in the same scroll Oliver described.

True, but if so, this would not have been from extant papyri.
