Danzo Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 Obviously, someone wrote the letter, but they were probably just trying to get attention. Apparently its a thing nowadays to say stupid stuff to city and county officials. There was a class on how to handle this sort of stuff at one of the training meetings I recently attended. People are never going stop saying dumb stuff. Salon and Mother Jones are the real guilty parties in this case. They did exactly what the letter writer intended by giving the letter writers a megaphone. The letter should have just gone in the shredder where it belonged. 3

Calm Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 (edited) The Mother Jones article referenced similar texts but neglected to share what else the Rapid Response team advised: https://bridgingdivides.princeton.edu/sites/g/files/toruqf6646/files/documents/BDI_RR Alert_110724_Text Messages.pdf Quote If you’ve received this text message, do not respond or engage with the sender; report it to a trusted partner such as SPLC or to local law enforcement. ● Do not post screenshots of the text message that inadvertently expose your own (or others’) phone number or other PII. ● If appropriate, invite public officials to make statements that do reject hateful attacks and arm commitment to safety for all Americans, but don’t repeat the texts verbatim. I think this should apply to others besides officials, but people want to show they are informed (I certainly personally understand that inclination and frequently forget it’s better not to spread manure except in gardens).
