choir curious

I have seen a fading away of choirs in recent years . Is this common ?

Every ward choir I’ve had has really struggled.  The stake choir is phenomenal, it’s formed for each conference.

I think it my be a general trend, especially since COVID, of members feeling they have better things to to with their time than to do church stuff. Thus shorter Church, less activities for youth, sports disappearing, etc... 

Hopefully they are spending increased personal time in family history and the temple...

I personally would love the early Church days where hours were spent together with perhaps a break for a communal meal.

Or with their families.( If we are going to be concerned about that others are doing. )

I started attending church at the beginning of summer, when the ward choir took a hiatus, so did not know for three months that the ward choir even existed.  I knew of (and joined, and performed as part of) the stake choir before I joined the ward choir!  😄  Ward choir rehearsals just started and I am so grateful to be allowed to be a part of it.  My favorite part of church is the music.  🥰🎵
