It's very much a defence mechanism, and a very effective one at that. As you know, chickens love to eat bagels; and are often seen dancing around said objects in a gluttonous frenzy. Bagel-beagles...not the brightest of creatures...run from these 'dances' just as fast as they can.

African swallows got wind of this in the early 17th century, and mums are quick to pass the news to their kids.

I'll have you know that you have been the inspiration to have a family get together this weekend to watch the show. We may have to serve hot dogs on bagels for dinner.

Are the fried onions a reference to something in the movie? I don't remember anything and I'm not finding them in a search.

Bless you, but no. Piling fried onions onto hot dogs - along with mustard - is a Brit thing. Nowt to do with the movie. Just goes to show what wondrous eating habits us Brits have. Oh...and chuck in a plate of chips for good measure.....with, or without, brown sauce. And don't forget the lukewarm beer. Yum yum 😋. Enjoy!!
