You do not speak for all thinking Mormons, nor do you categorize all of them. This is your opinion only for what it is worth. Go tell the instructors at BYU that use the film that they are using "such, (sic) tools and tactics..." Go tell the BYU Studies Quarterly editors they are publishing anti-Mormon literature. My post is not anti-Mormon at all, but your reply puts a certain group in bad light. Bill “Papa” Lee So, you are still trying to tag me as an “Unthinking Mormon”, or are you implying I am just uneducated, or a “far right, unthinking Mormon” (whatever that means). All of this to support your decision to post inflammatory anti-Mormon propaganda, on a website designed to defend our Faith. This is not BYU, nor is it a BYU site, nor is my duty to tell BYU anything. But had I seen it, and subsequent posts about the South and the Klan by you, I would have objected to whomever would listen, including BYU Administration. You can of course continue to try and label me in as many ways that you can come up with, but my opinion remains the same, “anti-Mormon imaginary, or anti-Mormon writings don’t belong here. We can and have discussed their ways, or tactics very, very often here, without posting their films, papers, or pamphlets, with me often helping lead the charge. Also, what “group” did I “put in a bad light”? Also the rep points I received, does that mean they are, “far right and unthinking” as well? Whatever, “far right” means on a website devoted to defending our Faith? Maybe you could just realize that posting this, was not a greatest idea, of your other postings. I support your right to do so, but also understand that the opinions of others is also a right, not a “far-right”, just a “right”. JamesBYoung: Bill, those are your words not mine. I have been positive. I have given you BYU Studies to look at. Others have told you that we can learn from film about how others, even negatively, see Mormonism. Yet you want to "nuh uh". Being quarrelsome does nothing for your position. That's fine. The rep points mean you have been here for a time. So what: that you have some who agree with you? Edited May 11, 2020 by JamesBYoung

To that your reply was to bring up the Klan and the South. So again my question, “So why bring it up“? It was an odd reply, don’t you think? BTW, no true Christian, or Latter-day Saint was ever a member of the Klan, no matter what they may have called themselves., JamesBYoung said: Someone just asked me: was there any Mormon members of the KKK in the South then or now. I have no idea. Never did I hear of such a connection. JamesBYoung: I brought it up because I was asked. That you don't like it remains immaterial to the discussion. You are an odd duck, and somewhat a rather ineffective defender of the faith. You sound like the really old guys in the priesthood meeting who pontificate for minutes on end as if were being flashed to the 1950s. So many of the younger guys remain polite and silent in meeting but later roll their eyes and chuckle.

So many of the younger guys remain polite and silent in meeting but later roll their eyes and chuckle. Wow, this is what you took away for all I have said, and asked?. So, I am an “odd duck”, I am sure you will find others who agree. No sir, not that old, and seldom do I speak up in Priesthood, unless I am asked to teach. Otherwise I am very quiet, asked a question, or asked to share my thoughts. Otherwise, I just listen, as I have grown older, I have learned there is more wisdom in listening, than in speaking. Once again, you have sought to “define me”, rather than to address the questions posed to you. Who asked you about members in the South or anywhere, if Mormons were ever part of the KKK? Your first response to your posting, was “asking if there was a question” (too paraphrase)? And your reply involved, (again too paraphrase) “if members were ever in the Klan. Can and will you answer any of the questions asked, or will you continue try and place me in a little box, so you can both label and dismiss me? Also, have you answered, “which group I am casting a dim light on? Or do you wish to attempt another clever way of deflecting my questions. BTW, were you in Priesthood in the 1950’s to know what their meetings were like? If so, I will defer to your age, as I was only born in 1957, and did not grow up as a Latter-day Saint. JamesBYoung Posted May 12, 2020 Author Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) Then don't give if you don't want the same, please. Don't define me by 1950s LDS culture. I don't wish to spar or quarrel. I do expect polite responses. And we all deserve respect here. So where I have offended, I apologize. In return, take me at being honest and without an ulterior motive. It's just all things touching on our culture fascinates me. Edited May 12, 2020 by JamesBYoung
