Duncan Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Correct me if I am wrong but the Book of Moses is the JST translation of the first 8 chapters of Genesis, but when you look at http://www.centerplace.org/hs/iv/default.htm what the JST says, from the above link, for Genesis 1-8, it doesn't have anything like Moses 1, am I oblivious to where the material for Moses 1 would be for it be included in Moses 1, as it doesn't appear to be included in the JST for Genesis 1-8

The Ensign did a surprisingly good summary of the history. I think the overwhelming bulk of the evidence is that Moses 1 should be seen as a separate revelation unrelated to the rest of Moses. That is not the same as the effort by Rigdon and Smith to revise many verses of the 1828 Phinney Bible, which is usually spoken of as the JST. Like Moses 1, that is mostly revelatory material which is not usually directly comparable to the KJV text. Much of that material, in other words, was received the same way in which whole sections of the Book of Commandments and Doctrine & Covenants were received. Other examples of lengthy materials of that kind are included in a JST appendix following the LDS Bible Dictionary in current editions, as well as in JS-Matthew. Edited January 27, 2018 by Robert F.
