A decorated tree, some light refreshments, some musical talent, group singing carols, maybe a Christmas story, and time to socialize. The 3-hour block doesn’t foster friendly mingling. We need activities as much as we need the serious stuff. I noticed something interesting today. With only sacrament meeting, many stood around and just talked much more than they do after the block. I loved it. Did feel bad when I realized that the bishop was wanting to leave - he wasn't being obvious - I was just watching him and others more closely because of noticing everyone was talking. 1

After our meeting tons of people just stood around talking. That never happens. I was playing some beautiful Polish Christmas carols on the organ for postlude. Some people were actually listening! Then the bishop from the next ward came in and said their ward choir needed the chapel for practice so we had to vacate. He said to go out in the hall to visit, but since there are eight entrances, everyone just left and went home. Kinda disappointing. Edited December 25, 2017 by Bernard Gui 3
