I am sorry to hear about your father's suffering. I do not think, though, that my post says what you think it says. I specifically talked about God's will being involved in things other than statues, even if His actions are invisible to us.

The question of human suffering and the Problem of Evil is a long one, filled with many partial yet ultimately unsatisfying theodicies. In the end, I believe that faith is the only satisfactory answer as to why there is suffering and evil in the world. All other explanations fall short of the mark.

Again, I am sorry about your father and my point was not that God would save a statue while allowing others to die. It was that God is more involved in our lives than we realize and perhaps many were saved by God's will in an invisible manner.

Thank you. Sorry I misread what you were trying to say.

ALL the miracles in the Bible were of direct benefit to humans --- Noah's Ark, the burning bush, the fall of Jericho, water into wine, the dead returned to life, calming the storm. I feel that weeping statues and toasted bread with images on them are oddities at best. However, such can remove one's eye from GOD and focus it on those material things... It's like a tornado tearing a house to the ground and leaving a delicate knick-knack unharmed. Yet are not the human lives far more important? Such may give us something to ponder; however, real miracles are like when an atheist accepts the LORD as his Savior. I believe that is the only kind of miracle GOD really cares about. The rest are distractions and not of any eternal value.

Forgive me if I find your response naive and uncovincing.

In a Facebook conversation we are talking about Littlewood's law and Ramsey Theory. I think my friend may have a point  why bad things happen. Please understand that we can't blame God for the bad things that happen. Illness and accidents are just a coincidence, it it just something that happens. Every time something bad happens doesn't mean it was a punishment from God, bad things are just a coincidence when our brain friends a meaning.   I hope this helps.
