Stargazer
The news is that the Russia Vladivostok Mission is being folded into the Russia Novosibirsk Mission. The article in Deseret News says that there are 23,180 members and 103 congregations (wards and branches) in Russia. 1 Link to comment
Calm
When we were in Russia the mission president talked about having to travel across 7 or more time zones. Not an easy mission to supervise personally. Can't imagine the tension it must be these days with the legal situation. Link to comment

Don't know if that still obtains, but it required a wide circuit of travel for him. A great many Russian converts have left and come to America. I have several in my ward in Provo. One guy who was a missionary in Russia (and used to frequent this board), married a Russian convert, and now lives in the Cache Valley of Utah. Were it not for emigrants, we would have many more members there now. 1 Link to comment
Calm
Understandable why they wanted to immigrate though. 1 Link to comment
