I find it interesting, but am not a history buff because I know that history is always inconclusive and irrelevant to spiritual matters anyway. I have no dog in this fight. But just think about the question itself. You started out wanting the "TRVTH" rock solid provable scientifically as FACT and now at best what you want is the favored interpretation of some scanty available data, by most archaeologists. That's all you even aspire to at this point. The best you want is an admission of the opinion of a majority. Not exactly a "fact" even though I do not believe that "facts" exist. Apparently you do not either. And your terms are horribly ambiguous. Is it "true" or not? Subject to interpretation. "Most archeologists" ? What does that mean? From Bible colleges, from Harvard, Phd's or amateurs? And how do we determine "most"?? By a poll? Of whom? "Evidence"- what counts? What exact period counts and what does not? If it disagrees with the hypothesis does it count as "evidence" anyway? And the worst of all- "The exodus" - which one? How big does the party have to be? What year did this particular exodus happen? Does a traveling band of nomads count? I don't know about Robert but even IF you could answer all those, they would still be irrelevant to the spiritual value of "wandering 40 years in the wilderness" which many of us have personally done spiritually, and then finding the "promised land" which we also have done. Paradigms are in a sense all "myths"- some work better for some purposes than others. That is what philosophers say and yes, even D&C 93:30, which you will not bother to read. Look at this thread 1
