If you notice I mentioned the logic behind tradiing ammo. Maybe it is good to have a gun around, but stockpiling ammo is unnecessary in my view. I am sure a box or two would be sufficient. Everyone here speaks of hunting and the need for ammo and guns for hunting. I think they do not live in big cities. I do not see many deer in Los Angeles, and by the time they got to me, I think one or two of the 18 million people I live among might have imagined a venison steak on the hoof. If it gets to trading ammo hereabouts, I will be long gone, and I don't mean to the desert, which will be impossible to reach anyway. North is mountains, South is more cities for 150 miles, West is the Pacific and East is a hundred miles of urban fun to get through. I had to drive through the LA riots though I live nowhere near here, and those barely made it to the category of a "disaster". If you have not lived through civil insurrection, I hope you never have to. Not much risk of that in the Mormon corridor though, I am sure. Hi everyone! Having a good day? Wouldja like to trade some food for ammo?

May sound kind of silly, but couldn't watch people killing over food. Give yourself some credit... who knows what you might be capable of in an apocalyptic scenario... Take this for example... 2 Kings 6 26 Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!” 27 And he said, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?” 28 Then the king said to her, “What is troubling you?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’ 29 So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.” Or this... http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/donnerparty.htm Guns arnt just for keeping people from eating your food... its to protect yourself and your family from ending up on someone elses plate. When people are starving... everything is on the menu and there's a huge fast food restuarant readily available. Edited January 14, 2016 by Zakuska

You must be speaking about a uniquely American situation or you have let your imagination run wild. When or where have you heard about cannibalism (and you imagine it as active hunting of living persons) in the current world hotspots, like Iraq or Syria? 1
sdc999 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 In honor of this topic, I purchased a late Christmas gift from my spouse today. A 26 gun Winchester safe. It will store some of my better guns and lots of ammo but it will also have our passports, car titles, life insurance policies and a nice supply of cash. Now if my daughter's boyfriend (6'3", 220lb freak of nature) will just get to the house, I can get it put away in a closet. Some people ask; 'why so many guns, why so much ammo?'. I divert back to by daughter's boyfriend (6'3", 220lbs) - I can't whip his butt if I needed to. I would just have to shoot him. 1
