Bullied At School Due To Religious Beliefs :(

This has got to be one of the weirdest comments I have ever read on a discussion board.

Seriously.

I didn't quite know what to make of it either. Which begs the question.... ;)

You know what I find offensive?

That homosexuals have all but co-opted bullying, which is a general and very human and not-at-all-limited-to-sexual-perversions phenomenon.

Who said anything about homosexuals...?

You gotta wonder about men who see gay boogeyman in everything...

Well, my child came home smiling instead of crying today... I'm hoping that doesn't mean the other child went home crying instead (I don't think this is the case, my kid really is quite shy).  I'm volunteering over there tomorrow, so I will be able to check things out first hand.  I see the point in getting teachers involved, but I also see the point in letting everyone work things through on their own.  Hopefully they will all learn to have religious/political/philosophical conversations with everyone.... middle school is such a touchy age, they can burst into tears over a split fingernail, but they do eventually learn how to tuffen up.  We're in the bible belt, and everyone from all the different churches teaches all the kids to try to convert one another... I personally can't really understand the whole missionary thing, I like how the free masons do it - no missionaries, pure 100% free will, if you want to join, you have to seek them out because they will never seek you out, so the entire organization is filled with proactive people who are there not out of obligation or social pressure, but only of their own free will and choice....  If someone is going to join the church, it needs to be from them seeking it out, not from someone pushing them in.... "Knock and it shall be opened" - wait for them to knock!  If they are not knocking, then leave them alone .

One of our neighbors gave our current set of missionaries a compliment, she said "do you know what I like about your missionaries?  They aren't preachy.  They just asked me if they could help with yard work / serve etc... they didn't try to preach at me."   ..

I on the other hand had an encounter with LDS missionaries that was more like your child's experience at school.  It was the second worst experience I've had with religious missionaries, and out of half a dozen sets of LDS missionaries  not one asked about yard work or service.  I take that as a compliment to my yard. :)
