Duncan Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 I have only heard of one transgendered person with an opportunity to join the Church but a GA was involved and it was exceedingly strict rules to follow to join the Church. To me the bigger question is why is transgendered an issue? it seems that the real life lived experience here in mortality has the pre mortal life as a mishmash or bodies and identities. Why do some feel they got the wrong body and wrong identity? What does God expect them to do and be here? I dunno
Robert F. Smith Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) I have only heard of one transgendered person with an opportunity to join the Church but a GA was involved and it was exceedingly strict rules to follow to join the Church. To me the bigger question is why is transgendered an issue? it seems that the real life lived experience here in mortality has the pre mortal life as a mishmash or bodies and identities. Why do some feel they got the wrong body and wrong identity? What does God expect them to do and be here? I dunnoTwo issues should be considered here, Duncan: (1) What happens when an endowed male priesthood holder decides to be transgendered? What sort of action could or should be taken by his Stake President to deal with it? (2) Is it clear whether spirits in heaven are gendered before arrival on Earth? If so, is God, biology, or parenting to be blamed for wrong gender assignments here? Say DNA, in utero conditions, child molestation, etc. These are the same questions we must raise when confronted with a host of biological and psychological problems, from autism to spina bifida. Is someone or something to blame? Do we really understand the etiology of any of these problems? Edited June 27, 2014 by Robert F. Smith 1
