Take that a step further. When ones spouse dies are you supposed to dawn black  and never remarry? Never to Love in that way again until you are reunited with your spouse?

 

The sin of Adultury is when you sneak out behind your spouses back and do it.  With Polygamy, all are in the know and its expected. Yet it also doesn't necessarily follow that it will happen in all cases. (eg. BY and several of his "spouses")

No.  The law of chastity used to be administered and worded differently.  It used to be administered to the men and women separately (pre-1990) and the mens version allowed for polygamy (presumably pre-1904).

Well, that's a good catch.  I should have said "heterosexual" but not "monogamous," as the Church has previously recognized authorized plural marriages as legitimate.

Plural Marriage is Lawful marriage when God gives it.  God has never given any other sort of marriage save "sealings" of various types, which is a type of marriage, but not Polygamy.
