cdowis Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Cdowis quoting me ; I as a dedicated Mormon, ‘true blue through and through’ have the right and responsibility to ponder the scriptures. That's nice but this is not Social Hall. Cdowis; You need to be careful, because our brain can fool us.OK, I think that is what I said.snipI think you’re sort of missing my point.Joseph did not run away from the scriptures he built his doctrine upon them.Brigham discards them and then fabricates whole new concepts.Joseph put all of his doctrinal revelations before the Counsel for approval and then had the Saints raise their hands to sustain and canonized them. I think your knowledge of church history is flawed. Bingham just started making pronouncements. Sigh. Perhaps you should make a serious study of church history before blowing off such nonsense.Br Young was wrong, he was wrong about his theories and he was wrong in the way he handled giving them to the church. Can I be a faithful member of the Church and still hold that position, more than that would the Lord allow one of Prophets to teach something wrong. As an "accuser of the brethren" it is not your place to make such comments. You gain nothing useful by it, and do serious damage to yourself. You are putting yourself on the other side of the line, and it will bring your pain and sorrow in the end.Just some friendly advice. The brother of Jared went for 4 years without praying and then was surprised to find out God had a finger.Really. Do you actually think that he never said any prayers during those years, or... is it possible for you to conceive the Lord was referring, not to the quantity, but to the *quality* of his prayers. I suspect that his prayers during this period surpassed our own, but was not to the standard that he was capable.I suspect that he thought to himself, "But I say my prayers morning and night. What is the Lord trying to tell me."
Jude2 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm beginning to wonder if it is possible to carry on a real conversation here.
Stone holm Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm beginning to wonder if it is possible to carry on a real conversation here.Conversation ? What is that? Do people still do that?
ERayR Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm beginning to wonder if it is possible to carry on a real conversation here.Oh it is possible to carry on a conversation. To come to an agreement and get a consensus, well not so much.
Stone holm Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Oh it is possible to carry on a conversation. To come to an agreement and get a consensus, well not so much.Oh yeah I think I have heard of people doing that, course on a thread about the Adam God Theory my expectation of anything resembling that would of course be somewhere between zip and zero.

Jude2 Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Oh it is possible to carry on a conversation. To come to an agreement and get a consensus, well not so much.I don’t mind if someone disagrees with me, in fact I expect it. It’s just that some here would rather make witty derogatory statements than think.

I don't know and haven't checked but would not be surprised if you had not done some of it yourself. It is sometimes hard to resist.
Calm Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Really, I hate using those quote things but I'll try harder. That would be kindness itself.
