Popular Post Glenn101 Posted March 22, 2013 Popular Post Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) I am a blessed man. My youngest daughter called me this afternoon saying that she had been accepted into a PHD program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This was some great news, coming on thetop of a couple of pretty ego lifting items told me by my wife. Nothing to analyze there. Everything is great.I think of this daughter as maybe a pragmatic feminist. I might explain that later. But our relationship has evolved overthe years. Now, she talks, and I listen. The first one was aboutoure six year old grandaughter. She is living with us 24/7 right now and even though her father is living with us also, Linda and I are the de facto parents. My wife takes her down to the road to wait for the bus most every morning. They have some pretty wonderful conversations. This morning the converation turned to marriage. According to my wife, Jessi saidthat she wanted to get married some day, and when she did, she wanted to marry some one just like Poppa. Well, now, that really made me feel good for a few seconds, until I actually thought about the implications of what she was saying. You see, she was at an auto parts store some few weeks ago and of course she became the star, the centerof attention. The store owner, a good friend of mine, aksed Jessi if she knew what being spoiled meant. Jessi replied that it was Poppa, "wrapped around my finger". Of course that was and is pretty much the truth of the matter. So, that little episode began to filter into my mind, and I decided that I didn't want to go there. Don't analyze the blessing too much. Don't think about just what she sees in me that she wants in her future husband. Now, just this morning, my wife told me that I wasthe most handsome man she had ever met. Of course, this should be an ego boaster, but my wife does not wear her glasses very much. I actually mentioned that to her. She patted me on the shoulder and said, "In the eyes of the beholder". Well, she is due to get her glasses changed next year.Don't analyse that. Don't analyze the blessings too closely. Can still feel pretty good about everything. Yep, a good day all around.Glenn Edited March 22, 2013 by Glenn101 5
Tacenda Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Sweet!! Blessings like that are Gods gift! I keep thinking that your granddaughter is going to likely turn out to be like your daughter with a healthy sense of self. She'll likely turn that into giving back to others. More grandchildren would do well to spend that kind of quantity/quality with their grandparents.
TAO Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Wow, those are some nice thoughts! Great piece of advice =D!
