I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Purim, may we all be as brave as Esther!

Long live Queen Esther!!!

Down with Haman!!!

Is eating "Hamantashen" symbolic of to destroying Haman?

Here's a good recipe:

What's everyone's favorite Hamantashen filling?

Poppy is the classic, but jam fillings are much nicer.

Considering his final destiny, shouldn't it be "up and then sharply down with Haman"?

A little gallows humour there.

No kidding! A little punning, too. Most appropriate.

My first attempt

They taste better than they look, I need to figure out a stronger dough that's easier to fold and holds more filling without breaking :)

That isn't bad for a first attempt.

Thanks! They were fun to make.

ok, here's some Hebrew vocab for some Purim fun:

In Hebrew:

Me is who

and Who is He

and He is She

and DOG is a fish,

a cuckoo is a ponytail

your mommy is your sweetie

a bagel is a pretzel

a nylon is a plastic grocery sack

kabobs are not on sticks (they are a sausage)

salat mayonnaise is potato salad

the Mafia is a bakery

chips are french fries

Sylvester is New Years Eve...

and an arse is a trendy dressed up guy

and a boobie is another term of endearment like mommy.

(LOL, sorry, maybe I shouldn't have posted those last two, the mods can take it out if they deem it inappropriate)

can anyone else think of some more Hebrew words that sounds like English words?

I would spell it ars. Not exactly trendy, dressed up guys. The term comes from the word for venom. It means Sure, they spend a lot on clothes, and wear lots and lots of gold, but it has more to do with a certain attitude.

As for the bakery bit, when I was six or seven there was some movie in English that I was watching, and one of the characters said that the mafia was out to get him. I told my mom that the movie was funny, the guy is being chased by bakers. I was even more perplexed to discover the existence of a large group of Italian bakers in the USA perpetrating organised crimes...
