oh.de.marie Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I'm 34 years old. Mother to 11 year old twins that I share joint custody with.I was involved with a man that I thought I would marry. Instead he raped me.I want another child. I'm considering getting pregnant by artifical means because I cannot stand the thought of a man touching me through daily things let alone in such an intimate way.My understanding is that the church "discourages" this. Can you please offer me your own opinions?Marie.
Calm Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) If you are looking for opinions only, I would not be getting them from total strangers who for all you know could all be residents in a mental institution. This is something you should discuss with your nearest and dearest.I hope you have had the opportunity to get counseling for the rape. If not, I would encourage you to look into that especially before getting pregnant as this may influence your reaction to being pregnant in ways you don't now anticipate. If you are having difficulty with men being physically close to you, you need to consider what that might mean for medical care during a pregnancy and the possibility that there may be issues even if you arrange to be cared for only by women. The Church does discourage this for a variety of reasons. They also discourage single parenthood, which as you know is quite tough. You can talk to the bishop or someone you feel comfortable with to get input on what the Church guidelines are in these matters. Edited January 25, 2013 by calmoriah 1
