I already pay taxes at a higher rate than Mr. Romney. No. The modern day Robber Barons got rich by inheriting it and/or in betting other peoples money.

Envy. Envy. Envy.

And you don't even blush.

Romney by his own admission pays 14.1%

Dude you don't understand a thing. You know why he pays a 14.1%? He is essentially paying taxes 2 times. Once on the inital money he earned and then he is taxed again on his invesments or capital gains. I bet you that you pay less than 14.1% unless you are making over 100k there is a large percentage that currently does not pay any taxes. 14.1% is too much.

how much do you make a year?

I can tell you just from that figure if what you claim is true or not. BTW I don't need an exact just a range.

I'd even like to be in a tax bracket that has me paying a 10% federal rate. I haven't been that successful in business yet.

Ever hear of payroll taxes?

Yup. I pay 35% on income-producing activity. I produce more than I consume, so I must invest the balance. In Mitt's category, he then pays 15% on essentially the same amount he already paid 35% on . . . ending up paying 50% effective rate . . . until we take tithing/offerings into consideration, which gives him a break on both ends.

Yes. I understand that my numbers are approximate.

It is envy. Pure and simple. And it is racebaiting. And it is class warfare.

But, in its essence, it is envy.

Perhaps # 3 amongst the Seven Deadly Sins.

And that's all I can hear from the willfully ignorant.

I'm in the upper middle class.

Well USU got it.

Lets looks at this in an apples to apples comparison. What is the rate you pay on your capital gains taxes? Pay roll is useless to bring up expect to say that Mitt all ready payed his pay roll taxes. Pay roll and capital gains are not the same thing. I wish poeple on the left would not confuse those to things.

So did I until I retired. Moreover I pay income taxes on my retirement.

No he doesn't. That is the purpose behind forming a corporation. To pay taxes for the individual owner.

Warren Buffet

And that's all I hear from the willfully deceitful.

Social Security, Medicare, are federal taxes.

As to the original topic, logic would dictate as to the nature of the dispute and who is involved. Both Sen. Reid and Gov. Romney are politicians, and the comments concerned a political issue. There is a great deal of hyperbole in Sen Reid's comments, but I believe they are fair game.

If, on the other hand, this was a dispute about religious teachings between religious leaders, the comments should not be broadcast to the general public.
