Duncan Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 (edited) I have heard very little about the Holy Spirit of Promise in the Church but I am thinking it ratifies any ordinance performed on earth and subsequently sealed in heaven as per the keys restored by Elijah. But, how do you know when the ordinance was ratified and honored and sealed in heaven? is it a feeling, a revelation or something? I was baptized, confirmed, given the Mel. Priesthood, endowed in the Temple but I don't know if any of it was sealed in heaven. How do you know? Edited August 25, 2012 by Duncan
halconero Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 The way one can know is by your own current standing before God and your standing before him when you took upon yourself those different ordinances. Did you have a broken heart and a contrite spirit? Were you striving to keep those covenants? Then the Holy Spirit recognizes that promise and seals it. The Holy Spirit of Promise is the Lord's safeguard. Mortal Bishops, Stake Presidents and the Priesthood holders performing the ordinances maybe deceived into giving those ordinances to someone unworthy, but the Spirit is not deceived. He is the one who ratifies it before God. The mortal men of the priesthood recognize the ordinance on earth, the Spirit makes sure that it is recognized in Heaven. As to the "more sure word of prophecy"...that's a different matter.
