Book Of Mormon Geography 101

Anaco, no matter how you spin it, YOU are the one who is ignoring statements from Joseph Smith that disagree with your conclusion. You dismiss him when it is not convenient for you, and take his words as doctrine when they do. If you want to accept Joseph Smith as the one and only who knew BOM geography (all the while ignoring other Prophets and Apostles who have placed The BOM in Mesoamerica and elsewhere. Yet they are Prophets as just as much as Joseph Smith was), then you have to accept ALL that he said on the issue and not pick out what you want and disdain the rest. It's a package deal.

Thank you very much Freeman, even though you're (ironically) my "author" (in this post). Now, i will just follow your "road map" till i can (on my own) come up with my own BOM geography - no need to reinvent the wheel.

That being said, am not a mesoamerican expert - just love to study the BOM - but i believe (given the climatic conditions described in the BOM), the BOM geography fits the mesoamerican setting more.

The difference is that my information is primary source, the other material you will read is secondary source. For example, it is one thing to read Rough Stone Rolling and quite another to read the original sources to understand why the author came to his conclusions. For Book of Mormon directions it is a much simpler process. It did take me some time to collect the data, but it was remarkably simple to organize and understand the information

I'm sorry, but I think you are just completely wrong. Cureloms were seals and cumoms were penguins. I don't know how you could make such a simple mistake.

You are a heretic sir and are doubtlessly damned for your rebellion against truth.

Martin Harris visited with two professors to determine the truth of the Prophet's words. That was in 1830, years before Joseph Smith received Stephen's travel book in 1842. Why then did Martin Harris not discover that Joseph Smith didn't know what he was talking about in regards to geography?

Kind regards

You are assuming the learned professor knew about BOM geography. A faulty assumption.

I just got knocked down by this revelation, am sure i won't get up until i share it: Hill Cumorah is in Africa. ANGOLA.

There!

I gave everyone revelation. Right?

Do i really need revelation to see that LGT doesn't fit? Maybe i need google use in 400AD.

Google is quite good.

That's incorrect.

Any Great Lakes or North America theory does not claim the Prophet Joseph Smith did not know what he was speaking of. It's only the LGT that claims Joseph Smith didn't know what he was talking about up until 2 years before his death and anything he had said prior was false - all because he received Stephen's travel book gifted to him by an LDS Bishop in New York. Is that the order of the Priesthood for LDS Bishops to receive revelation for the Prophet and for the Church? Hardly.

Then the LGT claims it all occurred in a 500 x 200 mile area. Any quotes about Central America you are alluding to are from the Times and Seasons. But the Times and Season also mentions archaeological discoveries in North America as evidence for the Book of Mormon, statements completely ignored by LDS Apologists for the LGT, which precludes that the Prophet did know what he was speaking of, and of an area larger than 500 x 200 miles.

Critics, and apostates, contend Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon based on the Spalding manuscript - which is incorrect. Similarly, you claim Joseph Smith based his knowledge of Book of Mormon geography incorrectly from Josiah Priest's writings. You're using anti-mo, arguments.

This is also hypocritical, because while you claim Joseph Smith learned incorrect Book of Mormon geography from Josiah Priest's writings, you also claim it was from another book, that of John Lloyd Stephen's, which the Prophet learned the correct geography. You have to pit Priest against Stephens - making the Prophet Joseph Smith out to be some idiot who couldn't make up his mind about geography over their books which he was aware of.

You have to belittle statements by the Prophet Joseph Smith, you have to belittle that he was a Prophet and received revelation on the matter - the location of the New Jerusalem, Cumorah mentioned in the D&C - you even have to resort to claiming Joseph Smith learned geography from books, Priest's and Stephen's - and then spend your efforts over the latter being the correct one. It's bogus.

That's LGT 101 - Joseph Smith didn't know what he was talking about regarding Book of Mormon geography, up until two years before he was killed - due to a travel book he had received about the Maya. And everything he had said up to that point indicates he didn't understand or was ambiguous about the subject.

And I learned all this from reading articles at NAMI and FAIRLDS.

Respectfully

The only problem is that the Great Lakes theory fits like a round peg in a square hole or is it a square peg in a round hole. Ether way a bit of surgery is needed to make it fit.
