nosmelone Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 My nephew just got his Patriarchal blessing and like the rest of the world he is of the tribe of Ephriam. I have always heard that "missionary work" is the responsibility of the tribe of Ephriam (and partially Manasseh). How do we know what responsibilities come with your lineage? Is there anywhere to get further clarification on what responsibilities belong to other tribes? Any advice on this topic is welcome. Thanks

My mother was Adopted into Ephriam , she was of Austrian descent.( my mother and I are not related)(genetically)I just listened to Richard Bushmans interview on Mormon Matters and as a Patriarch he spoke of a patriarch in Russia who apparently has given a lot of different lineages of the 12. We baptized a lady on my mission who was in her 60's and she got her Patriarchal blessing and was of the tribe of Judah which is what really got me thinking about the whole purpose or responsibility thing years ago. A handful of my inlaws family are from Manasseh.

KevinG Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Being a new convert I asked my Patriarch if lineage was by adoption or literal. During my blessing it states mine is by adoption. It is also an unusual one but upon looking up the blessings given by Israel to his children in the scriptures I learned the blessings associated with it and they make sense given my role as first member in my lineage.http://www.lds.org/scriptures/ot/gen/49?lang=eng
