Ah yes, 1990 was a wonderful year.

You have stayed off the board too long, I am blowing you away in points....come on, man. Make it a decent fight or it won't be as fun!

If you carefully study the Pearl of Great Price, you'll see there was first the spiritual creation, then the physical creation.

The spiritual creation first mentions that plant then animals were created before Adam.

In the physical creation, Adam was the "first flesh upon the earth," then plants and animals were placed on it- they too being considered "flesh."

Kind Regards

so far everyone hear seems to think in the third dimension which makes sense considering that is where we are. science has proven the existence of three dimensions so far and have theorized as many as twenty four dimensions. Unfortunately we are trying to understand God and creation as if he exists and works solely in our own dimension. That just doesn't work. We try to put everything that the scriptures teach us in terms of what science currently understands that would never work because we don't have anywhere near the understanding required. That is why faith is so important. Heavenly Father has told us that worlds without number he has created through Jesus Christ we don't know when he created them although we know that we couldn't number them before he talked to Moses.

You can only learn these things by revelation from God.

If you could reveal or discover your Heavenly Father through science or a telescope, you would be greater than HE.

Doesn't work that way.

Holy cow!

You're not kidding!

To do that I'd actually have to be nice to people! Clearly that's too much to ask! ;)

The problem is that science begs the question. They only accept as "evidence" that which can be verified objectively by others, and dismiss personal experience as "subjective" and therefore, unreliable.

God cannot possibly exist because he is not casually observable by a crowd looking into the sky and saying "There he is!"

If that is all you are going to count as "evidence" then of course there is no "evidence" for him. You are presuming the answer in the way you ask the question.

"Look- up in the sky- it's a bird! It's a plane! It's God!"

It seems Mormon cosmology requires there to be multiple universes.

Don't get me wrong, I actually agree that theories about multiple universes help our cause, by enabling us to speculate about the way things are.

But the underlying presumption here is that God is in some sense knowable or discoverable by science as it is presently constituted. I don't think that is the case. I think science will have to change substantially before such a thing is possible.

But that's ok. We can wait.

For my own part I do no like any multiverse model*. In particular I find them troublesome for most interpretations of our theology. But I won't go into that here. Instead I subscribe to the following:

  1. Genesis accounts are exclusively a reference to our solar system's organization - no more, no less.
  2. God being God of the "universe" can be and should be interpreted in the same way as Noah's flood covering the "whole earth", both for ancient and contemporary references.
  3. If Heavenly Father has peers (as I believe he does) there is plenty of space in our single universe to accommodate distinct domains.
  4. Observational evidence is consistent with our universe organizing at a finite time in the past (some 13.7 billion years ago) but does not require a singularity. I suspect that the universe has always existed into the infinite past but asymptotically diverged from a singularity like state until it cooled off enough to start organizing to our current state (still have to explore if this is a feasible model, but I've been more concerned with the plausibility of faster-than-light (FTL) actions for now).
  5. Any cosmological model will be necessarily incomplete until and when we can incorporate spirit matter into it. But for that to happen we have to have a model of spirit matter. There is no functional model of spirit matter yet (they are all still metaphysical models).

* Most references seem to infer Tegmark's Level II multiverse. I can see Level I multiverses but if we include FTL travel then that is a modified scenario.

Good stuff, pretty much agree, but I would stress number 5 mucho mas.

Rude and uncalled for!

I suppose it is irrelevant to respond to you since you are no longer able to post, but I noted in several places you felt that I had somehow kicked you off the thread or the board or whatever.

Please know that i did not- that I don't have the ability to do so even if I had wanted to. In fact, I would have no problem in having further discussions with you were it possible. It wasn't me, dude, it was the moderators decision- I had nothing to do with any of it.
