MorningStar Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 I'm waiting for the mods to step in and tell us, "No sex threads! No sex with yourself threads either!" 1
MorningStar Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Blooit, by your title, I thought it meant that masturbation had replaced sex with one's spouse to prevent pregnancy.
Log Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) The charmingly naive thought - if held sincerely - that a little of the acids of atheism to etch away the teachings of religion pertaining to sexual morality can be done without likewise corroding all of the moral teachings of religion seems so quaint - if only it didn't have such astoundingly bad and well-documented consequences.Coming from highly educated persons, who cannot possibly claim ignorance of history, that thought cannot be sincere. Tarski Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 You are incorrect. The shame occurs even among boys who are not taught such things. Please provide empirical evidence for your implausible assertion.Uh huh. You obviously have many fascinating conversations coupled with mind reading skills. At 55, and having been a Mormon missionary, Bishop's son and since then a lifelong academic and erstwhile rock musician, I have indeed had many conversations (rendering mind reading unnecessary).I won't be replying to you any longer.meaning you won't have to provide evidence or that you are too squimish for this extremely ordinary topic?

Tarski Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) I'm waiting for the mods to step in and tell us, "No sex threads! MorningStar Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 just as well because discussing this rather ordinary topic here on this board with the likes of Log is about as fun as making an Islamic fundamentalist cleric red faced with outrage by suggesting that the burka is a bad idea.Well, obviously you don't think it's immoral, but many church members do and would maybe like to have a productive discussion on how to address the issue with our youth.
treehugger Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 There is not much room to argue that LDS youth, religious youth, or to some extent non-religious youth, are taught a message that "self abuse" is immoral aka wrong; sin; bad; shameful; etc. Many people are embarrassed about their personal activities, whether those person are religious or not. As society bends towards open acceptance of certain personal activities, less people will be embarrassed of said activities. Likewise as long as religious circles maintain a steady course on said activities, religious persons will likely view said activities as immoral.
