Where are we going with this?We are going here:Still, the front matter of the book contains the explicit statement that the book was approved by the First Presidency and is published by the Church itself, not by Deseret Book or some other entity. In my mind, that makes it unusual.

But that was a misnomer, because it didn't print the Deseret News; rather it printed Church curriculum materials such as lesson manuals. It was the forerunner to today's Church printing services.This is the statement I had in mind from Elder Talmage, part of the preface to the book:The author of this volume entered upon his welcome service under request and appointment from the presiding authorities of the Church; and the completed work has been read to and is approved by the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve. It presents, however, the writer's personal belief and profoundest conviction as to the truth of what he has written. The book is published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.In my view, that gives the book a very special character, far more than the average Church book.
