Scott Lloyd Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) It's all about being comforted. The funeral provides emotional and spiritual comfort, the buffet afterwards provides physical comfort. And funerals are a time when family and good friends who perhaps haven't seen each other in a long time renew acquaintances. Much more convenient and comfortable to do that over a hot lunch in the meetinghouse cultural hall than at the graveside while the cemetery staff is waiting to get the casket into the ground. Scott Lloyd Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) In California, at least where I grew up, you didn't see ward members every day.In Utah you learn to avoid giving the finger to an annoying driver on the highway, if for no other reason than that you might see him at stake conference the next weekend. MorningStar Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I think the chili cook off should be replaced with a funeral potato cook off. That would be sweet! Sorry to hear about the loss of two good friends.
