W. Bush or George Bush.

I will allow my employer to mandate that I work any number of hours per week that a week may contain and to receive any amount of compensation that that employer sees fit to pay at or over 1 penny per hour worked so as to constitute a wage and not be described as slavery.

you are more that welcome to find support your claim that capitalism is the Lords economic system, You will not find Doctrine that explicitly states as much. You might find statements that support certain elements, but as a system as a whole, you will not find capitalism mentioned by name.

I made no claims. You did. So why are you asking me to support a claim I did not make?

You're right, we should not require that God conform Himself to using words with meanings.

The fact that I posted a list of generally recognized characteristics of the economic system known as "capitalism" is not a claim by me that capitalism is the Lord's economic system, nor does posting it imply that I approve of capitalism.

Yes, that is your claim; I agree completely that you claimed it. Since it is a negative claim, I cannot expect you to prove it -- the impossibility of proving a negative and all that -- but I was curious if, on the other hand, you thought that God specifically disapproved of the capitalist system of economics. In order to help the discussion along I provided you with a list of generally accepted characteristics of that system so you could address them individually if you wished. If you don't want to address the question of whether or not God disapproves of capitalism, that's perfectly OK. It's reasonable if you don't have an answer to that question.

But I would appreciate it if you simply say so instead of trying to claim I said something that I didn't say.

I hate the antiSocial inSecurity program, I hate Medicare. They are horribly expensive, do not do what they were sold as doing, and have impoverished millions of people.

Neither has helped alleviate the "problem" it was designed to cure, and both have made them worse.

For example, in 1970, before Medicare, the average retiree spent roughly 20& of his income on medical care. Today, with Medicare, the average retiree spends more than 20% of his income on medical care.

AntiSocial inSecurity has destroyed the notion of "honor they father and thy mother" because the state will do it. There was no large number of people in 1932 who were 'out on the street" because they were too old to work. Their families took care of them. And it cost a lost less than 15% of their pre-tax income to do it.

Even if we assume (and there is no basis to do so) that Roosevelt and his cronies were truly concerned about the supposed plight of the elderly (rather than trying to cement a long-tern Democrat-controlled congress and presidency, which evidence shows to have been the case), their programs have failed miserably, and should have been eliminated long ago.

What did those elderly and disabled citizens do in the thousands of years of human history before Social Security and Medicare? Were they all out on the street? You are presenting a false dichotomy. "Out of the street" is not the only alternative to Social Security and Medicare. Before those wonderful social programs came into being the elderly lived off their life savings (the entire purpose for having a "nest egg" and why inflation is evil), were cared for by their families, or if they had no families (a very small minority) then private charity (individuals or organizations) took care of them.

As to being ready to receive the benefits of them, considering that I am paying for them it seems only reasonable that I benefit from them. Or do you usually consider it just to charge people money for something they will not get?

SS and Medicare are programs imposed by government. They are forced upon people who do not want them. And as a result of the false sense of security given by the existence of these programs, individuals who might otherwise expect to have to provide for themselves in their retirement are encouraged to believe that they don't really have to do anything to prepare for it. These programs are poor policy, not least among the reasons for this is the fact that they are not really retirement plans, they are income redistribution and transfer plans. From Day One the Social Security program was paying people for retirement who had never contributed to it, and today, because there are many fewer people paying in that there are who are receiving payments, the program is at base insolvent. It can't pay for itself.
