Have A Calling. Need Help.

Ok… so after being an official member of the church since June, I have a calling that starts in January - Gospel essentials teacher. Hmmm…. The branch President asked me how I "felt" about it. That was unexpected…. I"m the therapist here!!! He's the scientist!!! Not that I'm complaining. It was nice. Anyway…. I'm not too worried about the actual calling - but I am wondering about other's experience in what made this class a positive experience. My experience with it has just been to read the chapter with the group each week and have discussion. Are there other ways to do it?? I informed the husband he'd be helping me :)

Thanks!!!

I feel I am not in the position to give advice because I don't know a lot. But I'll pray that the Lord bless you and help you carry out your calling. :)

So today I started this new calling. It went ok, thankfully a few of the more experienced members did a lot of talking :) And there was even a friendly disagreement… but otherwise went well. I posted something on a lesson a few weeks out, chapter 6, in the general discussion if anyone wants to help me out. I put this chapter up there because it's not a topic I am very comfortable with (The fall of Adam and Eve), and I expect some more questions from the investigators…. so if you are interested in helping me out with your thoughts or experiences on discussing this topic…. feel free :) Thank you!

This is what I have done for the past 4 years...the 4 years prior to this I taught Sunday School "Gospel Doctrine"...in fact in my 32 years in the Church I began teaching within 6 months. Other that a three year calling in the Bishopric is is all I have ever done. In fact when I served as Stake Clerk, i still served as a teacher in my Ward.

You already can do the two most indispensible things that will make you a great teacher:

1. Love what you teach; and

2. Love who you teach.

:)

This is very important, with these two things she cannot fail.
