ksfisher Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 The name on your church records can be changed by taking a copy of whatever legal document you have that indicates the change to your ward clerk. This happens all the time when people get married.

Has anyone heard of this being done before?If you have your ward clerk change your name for you, your file will carry your newly-changed name wherever you go. The Church identifies you by your membership number, though previous aliases are probably still kept for genealogical purposes. Or, if you'd rather keep the old name and have the new one be your preferred name, that's a fairly easy change as well. I do this kind of stuff all the time.
