My hat is off to you all for your self-control. One of the Temple Square “gadflies” (look up that you Star Trek geeks”) is begging for money to be able to attend the Manti Temple Pageant”. So much of their ministry is based on misconception and bad information and lies that many have simply blindly believed because they sounded good. Sometimes they come off as caricatures of people rather than real people.

I say more power to them. From what smattering I saw of those protesting they all seemed to be quite civil and well-intentioned. I caught no "snide comments" from what I saw. I also don't believe it is simply about their being misinformed. When large groups come together misinformation on both sides abounds. Those protesters are somewhat misinformed on certain issues as are many of our own membership on their own faith (myself included). It flows both ways. As long as everyone can respect the differing opinions it could actually turn into something quite positive.Meanwhile, many of the sharper tools from the athiest bunch are all sitting back and saying we're all - both traditional Christian and Mormon alike - nut cases. And the world continues to turn...
nosmelone Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Having been to multiple temple dedications, and pageants I have seen both sides of the coin. I have seen protestors that were extremely rude and disruptive in the way they protest these events and I've seen those who are peacefully just being open to share their opinions. I have seen Mormons who are so offended at these people that they become the disruptive force and need to be put in their place. To me although it doesn't necessarily have to be contentious it does set the stage for a contentious atmosphere, which Mormons and Born Agains should both be trying to avoid. The only question I have is why didn't I see these same protestors who are so quick to share their message of TRUTH protesting at the Islamic World International Conference in Atlanta this year? It just seems that they go after the Mormons because for the most part Mormons are an easy target of peaceful people. If their message was truly a sincere message of "I'm sharing this with you to help you" than why settle with just sharing or protesting Mormon events? If you are truly trying to share this message of Christ why is the target soley on the Mormon population?

And the world continues to turn... Two things I saw in the video, the one girl who leaned in and said we have to teach them (to paraphrase) “the difference (at this point whispering) between there small weak god, to our all powerful one”. Then the guy from Texas who said how much better this is (Manti) than Gen Conference because those are the “hard core Mormons in their suits tying t act like they have no doubts”. Passive / Aggressive at it best.
