  1. 1. What is your LDS viewpoint of Planned Parenthood?

    • It's positive since they offer necessary services for women's health
    • It's mostly positive since they offer necessary services. Just wish they got rid of the abortion services
    • It's a negative viewpoint since the majority of their money comes from offering abortions
    • Other
    • This is a dumb poll

Again, we don't ask any different questions, nor do we change them. It comes up only if such a person were known publically to be a supporter in much the same way it might come up if a person were teaching as doctrine or advocating something false.

Ok - I get it- agreed.

I guess it all comes down to how many and what type of tares you want growing up with the wheat.

Around here it's more a question of getting massive quantities of fertilizer to the few stalks of wheat you can find in a field of pretty much nothing but tares!

I don't blame the Church. It acted wisely in a sensitive area where a few of its Bishops acted unwisely. The job of the Church is not to embarrass the good people of the Church, but to lead them closer to Christ.

Those so called hidden camera stunts have been proven to be as fraudulent as a three dollar bill bill.

I don't think so TSS. They've been shown to be biased and agenda driven but that's no surprise. There's no denying what was said on the tapes, the latest of which just got posted on youtube a few days ago.

And the interesting thing is that PP has fired employees over these "discredited" videos all while refusing to debate this group Live Action on CNN. They also dropped their lawsuit against Operation Rescue a few months ago. Even when you clear away all the partisan smoke, it seems evident that there's a fire burning at PP.

Please.

And eating apricot pits, apple seeds is dangerous both contain cyanide.

http://www.snopes.co...ings/apples.asp

Yes I am fully aware that laetrile containes cyanide. Orther foods that contain laetrile:

  • KERNELS OR SEEDS OF FRUIT: The highest concentration of vitamin B-17 to be found in nature, aside from bitter almonds. Apple, apricot, cherry, nectarine, peach, pear, plum, prune.
  • BEANS: broad (Vicia faba), burma, chickpeas, lentils (sprouted), lima, mung (sprouted), Rangoon, scarlet runner.
  • NUTS: Bitter almond, macadamia, cashew.
  • BERRIES: Almost all wild berries. Blackberry, chokeberry, Christmas berry, cranberry, elderberry, raspberry, strawberry.
  • SEEDS: Chia, flax, sesame.
  • GRASSES: Acacia, alfalfa, aquatic, Johnson, milkweed, Sudan, minus, wheat grass, white dover.
  • GRAINS: oat groats, barley, brown rice, buckwheat groats, chia, flax, millet, rye, vetch, wheat berries.
  • MISCELLANEOUS: bamboo shoots, fuschia plant, sorghum, wild hydrangea, yew tree (needles, fresh leaves).

Growing up we fed our cows and horses mostly alfalfa. Alfalfa has a lot of laetrile. Those cows and horses should have died from cyanide poisoning but they didn't. Why? Becasue the cyanide is locked inside the laetrile nutrient compound and cannot get out unless it ecounters a special rare enzyme. Only cancer cells have that enzyme. So when the laetrile comes in contact with a cancer cell the laetril is unlocked and the cyanide released which then kills the cancer cell. In other words, the cyanide inside the laetrile kills the cancer but not the host. Should se all quite drinking wheat grass juice? How about brown rice or strawberries? Laetrile has a bitter taste which is why most people avoid foods with laetrile, which is why they get cancer.

I dont' believe quackwatch, if being called a quack is the price I need to pay to be heathly then so be it. Everytime I eat an apple I eat the seeds.

The list of things I'd defund finds Planned Parenthood somewhere lower than first, but far from last. Any government funding of what should be private charity is abominable. Forcing me to pay for what I consider murder is well beyond abominable.

If someone wants to pay for a woman's infanticide, let him do it with his own money, and not with mine, taken at the point of a gun by the IRS.

I also object to the state's taking money from individuals and using it to pay for adoption, medical care, retirement of those who didn't earn it, welfare, or researching cancer. I especially object to paying for government youth concentration camps/indoctrination centers (commonly called "public" schools). Brigham Young said he objected on the same grounds, and no one has shown any prophetic repeal of this stance.

So basically you propose that taxpayers should only pay for those things with which they agree?

In that case, I would like to be refunded for my tax dollars that have been used in the war efforts in the middle east, and any of my moneys used for capital punishment, which I equate with govermnet-sponsored murder.

And have you really had the IRS at your door pointing a gun and demanding your tax money?

And by the way, Brigham Young said a lot of nutty things....you should take his views with a grain of salt, lest you believe in those little quaker men inhabiting the moon.

Not exactly, but we should have to pay for things the Constitution permits, and Planned Parenthood, Inc., aka, "Premeditated Murder, Inc.", is not there.

In that case, I would like to be refunded for my tax dollars that have been used in the war efforts in the middle east, and any of my moneys used for capital punishment, which I equate with govermnet-sponsored murder.

The Constitution implicitly (and nearly explicitly) permits capital punishment, war (albeit there are limits), and several other things with which I may or may not agree. Premeditated Murder, Inc., is not on the list.

And have you really had the IRS at your door pointing a gun and demanding your tax money?

No, but the threat is there, and they have been known to do just that.

And by the way, Brigham Young said a lot of nutty things....you should take his views with a grain of salt, lest you believe in those little quaker men inhabiting the moon.

Brigham Young never said there were "little quaker [sic] men inhabiting the moon."

But, as I have shown here many times, every prophet from Brigham Young to Boyd K. Packer has said that the Saints should not over render their children to the state. You can start reading some of them here. The only reason Joseph Smith didn't was because there were no grtf-welfare schools until after he was martyred.

Some people are under the mistaken impression that we just ask the questions and accept the answers. If we know of or perceive something to be amiss, we continue along the line of questioning the Spirit directs. The TR questions are just a basis and typically all that's needed for most active members. I can assure you that a certain community leader mentioned in the OP, who is diametrically opposed to the LDS Church on many critical issues in public fashion, would not currently be able to get a TR in this Stake unless someone higher up intervened.

From thence comes the saying "Burn 'em all up and baptise for the dead!"

What is the context of that Joseph Smith quote and where does it come from?

I don't know much about the context, except that he seems frustrated with protestants who were condemning the Catholic church. I found it on wikiquote this time, but I have seen it quoted elsewhere before. they cite it from History of the Church, 6:478; Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 223; Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 375

Hear hear.

How do I opt out of my portion of the money we spend on war?

Okay, I voted "other" because my view of PP is negative but not just because of the abortion business. There have been a number of hidden camera stings in recent years showing the organization lacks integrity and willfully ignores the abuse of women and children. Also (iirc) they supported legislation to allow children to be carried across state lines by school representatives (counselors) for abortions without parental notification.

And of course, there's the fact that I find PP founder Margaret Sanger a completely repulsive individual for her views on eugenics, race, motherhood, and infanticide...

Yeah. Not a fan of PP.

As I understand it, the vast majority of Planned Parenthood's activity is in birth control, not abortions.

Did you look at MnG's link? They list many things that they do but what makes them money is abortions. So I believe your statement is true but it doesn't take a look at the big picture.
