The coming of the Islamic Messiah

It is rather annoying to be called a liar because you misunderstand my post, and misunderstand Islam. It may be true that your misunderstanding of my post doesn't correlate to your misunderstanding of Islam, but that is not my fault and doesn't make me a liar.

Muslims believe (and the Qur'?n explicitly states, as has been noted) that Jesus in the biblical Messiah of the Jews, and fulfilled the biblical messianic prophecies. They do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, a God, or that he atoned for our sins. They are thus halfway between Christians (Messiah is the Son of God, Atoned for our sins) and the Jews (Jesus is not the Messiah in any way.)

The Mahdi is not the Messiah. He is an eschatological figure who will fills a messiah-like role, destroying evil, fighting the anti-Christ, establishing the final perfect kingdom of God. He is to prepare the way for the second-coming of Jesus (who according to Muslims was not crucified or resurrected, but ascended into heaven).

There are many different concepts of the Mahdi in Islam. The Twelfth Imam as occulted Mahdi is a peculiarly Twelver Shi'ite concept that is not accepted by Sunnis or non-Twelver Shi'ites.

So what makes Christ messianic in Islam? The Jews expected a milfary savior, and the Christians found the spiritual savior. What else is there left to save? I understand that messiah refers to the anointed one, which may not necessarily have anything to do with saving - but what di Muslims believe he was anointed to do?

The message is that there is one God, and he is merciful and just; and God's laws for humans that create a merciful and just society.

The message that there is one God can be seen in the law of Moses (Deuteronomy 6:4), and Islam continues this legacy just as much if not more than any other religion that exists on the planet. In fact, LDS people do NOT say this saying any more even though we say that we are the legacy carriers (which I believe)--why don't we say this anymore?

Just like LDS affirm that the ancient prophets are "LDS" in the sense that they were covenant and priesthood people, Muslims affirm that these prophets, beginning with Adam, were Muslim--that is, they submitted/surrendered to God.
