If you see it as a problem that's fine.. If your sources are Biblical then quote them and show where their position is supported.. I will check it out but I won't take the time to read their books.. You do that.. I have enough to try to keep up with.. IHS jim

The link Mola provided and the commentary on Isaiah did provide verses. You obviously didn't read it. You just glazed over it.

Quit being lazy, especially if you are going to try to debate and tell us we are wrong.

I do not need to deal with anyone interpretation unless I am talking to them

I agree with their interpretation. Now it is my interpretation. Answer Mola's post.

I listen to Matthew, Peter, and John.

Yet, all you have in an English version what they supposedly wrote. And we weren't talking about any of them. We were talking about Isaiah in the original Hebrew.

I have given you reasons for not addressing their conclusions.

Not really. You just don't want to. I think it is mainly because you can't. You will continue to spew your nonsense and ignore arguments and scholarship. You may not post at CARM anymore, but your tactics are the same.

I have not read what they have to teach.

You don't have to read everything. Just the arguments on Isaiah.

I haven't the time to do so

Yet you have all this time to debate on here, CARM, and Walter Martin? Nice cop out.

And yet LDS people believe hat Jesus was the God at the burning bush that spoke to Moses.. If that is true then All the Bible is His word.. And He promised that His word would never pass away.. If I was what you say I am I wouldn't study as hard as I do to learn God's word and obey Him in my witness.. If you want to discuss mormonism as taught by your leaders or in your scripture I am more than willing.. If you ask me to go study liberal men that insist they are Christian as they deny the miracles, the virgin birth, or the divinity of Jesus, I have no interest.. CFR. As far as I know, she recognizes Him as Yahweh, the son of El.

Christian Science teaches that Jesus is divine but not God, and that Jesus' human nature is a separate entity from the divine Christ. "Jesus Christ is not God, as Jesus himself declared, but is the Son of God" (Science and Health, 361:12-13).

Mr. Cox says that "fundamentalism" will collapse. Your narrow-minded view of Christianity is exactly why you think he is denying the "promises of Jesus."

This is my thread.. I will answer any post I wish.. Just like you have the power to not say another word.. It is your choice.. You seem to love telling other people what to do and how to think. How is saying Jesus is divine denying the deity of Christ?

I quoted their doctrine concerning Jesus that says without question that "Jesus Christ is not God, as Jesus himself declared, but is the Son of God" (Science and Health, 361:12-13). This is a clear denial of of the divinity of Jesus by any standard unless the person reading it considers themselves to be intellectual superior to the person that pointed it out and then nothing that person says can be considers worth while.. Their mind has become bigoted in the pride of the knowledge they think they have.. All along they read man's thoughts and these will pass away.. For the most part they are wrong from the start..

If the Aaronic priesthood is open to all why did Ezra demand genealogy showing the proper linage. He said without that linage people were put from the priesthood as unclean?

Ezra 2:62

These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

The Priesthood of Aaron was a priesthood of the Old Testament.. In Hebrews we learn that it has been changed.. It is gone replaced by the Priesthood of Jesus.. He is taught by the writer to be the High Priest of the Melchizedek priesthood, believers are the priests offering the sacrifice of praise.. (Heb 7:12, Heb 3:1,Heb 13:15, Rev 5:10).. Yes you would have to claim revelation to bring back a OT priesthood and assign it to the church because the Bible is not quiet on the subject it is down right antagonistic. It would be saying just the opposite of what Hebrews teaches on the subject of priesthood..

Hey if you want to hold such doctrines as these, ok I would never say you have no right to do so but be honest about it and just say that the Bible is as corrupt as your historic leaders said it is and stop saying it's part of the standard works..

Orson Pratt said:

Who knows that even one verse of the whole Bible has escaped pollution. So as to convey the same sense now that it did in the original? (Orson Pratt's Works, 1891, page 218)

This is what I see mormons still saying in adding all the 'revelations' that are 180 degrees out of agreement with the Bible..

IHS jim

Well, you may have the audacity to ignore the Aaronic priesthood as being the viable and necessary authority in the church that Christ built, but I do not. He started His first church under the authority of John-the-Baptist (a priest of the Aaronic order) by descending to the Jordan River. And He has made a place of honor for it in the restored church in these latter-days.

Remember that John-the Baptist was the first martyr who died in the name of Christ.

Or maybe you are one of those many Christians who profess that baptism is not even a required ordinance and deny that it is the first step in obeying Jesus who said,

I see this much better now thank you or explaining it.. I, of course, disagree that the Church is not children of the promise.. We believe that we are children of Jesus by faith and since He is the promise we ARE children of the promise.. :P IHS jim

Children of Jesus? No, Jesus is our brother.

Children of Christ our Lord? Certainly, when we are born of the union of the word of Christ and His church.

But I thought only the LDS had such a doctrine that would make Christ our eternal father.

The problem with making "Jesus" your father is that even Jesus deferred his doctrine to the Father. Jesus only spoke what the Father commanded him too. The words of the NT are from the Father. So, Christians are born of the word of God which came from the Father.

Only the latter-day saints are born of the word of God which came from Christ to the people of the BOM and to the restored church through Joseph Smith.

Your ideas are not supported by scripture. Mine are supported by both the Bible and modern revelation.

John did have the right to the priesthood being of the tribe of Levi and the house of Aaron but there is no evidence that he was ever ordained or served as a priest.. Where you get the idea that he did is not part of the Biblical record.. Jesus never said one word about priesthood at all. Those teaching came from the Holy Spirit though the Apostles.. What church was John a member of? The Church was not formed until the day that the Holy Spirit came upon the believers at Pentecost.. Until this time all we see is Jesus saying that He would build His Church.. This all happened after the Holy Spirit was shed on the disciples of Jesus..

John died as he lived proclaiming repentance.. The Bible is silent as to John's last hours.. He was a martyr for God but because the Christian era had not yet began He was not a Christian martyr..

I am one of 'THOSE' Christian that do not believe that water has any power to save.. Wile I believe Baptism is a commandment and not submitting to it is sin I see the Bible telling me that Salvation come by God's grace through faith plus NOTHING.. Jesus is all that a person needs to be saved.. Now does this give a believer license to disobey God.. As Paul said "God Forbid, How can we who are dead to sin live in it anymore.. " If we will be His children we can't turn away and hold our sin dear..

I am not of Aaron, Jesus was not of Aaron.. Yet Jesus became the High Priest without ever being a Aaronic priest. I became a priest because Jesus has made His children to be so.. Are you again denying the Bible?

Rev 1:6

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

You said "FYI, baptism was the required ordinance for a non-Jew to join God

This this really what Peter said? To " in effect, repent, be baptized for the remission of sins, and to receive the Holy Ghost."?

To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Acts 11:17

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

These are the the words and testimony of Peter. That all who believe have their sin forgiven, and that we should not stand in the way of God when He has made His salvation clear.. No of this came as a result of any works or ordinance just by faith in Jesus.. That is the testimony of the Gospel of Jesus..

James,

No doubt the scriptures you quoted are enlightening, but you completely ignored, or misunderstood what I said. Let me repeat and this time I won't paraphrase.......................

Acts 2:38

Then Peter asaid unto them, bRepent, and be cbaptized every one of you in the dname of Jesus Christ for the eremission of sins, and ye shall receive the fgift of the gHoly Ghost.

This is, as I said earlier, what is recorded that Peter said to the men on the day of Pentecost. Repent....... be baptised for the remission of sins....... and receive the Holy Ghost.

Maybe I need to add John 1:1 to John 1:12 so you can understand what I am saying..

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

Since this verse says that Jesus is God and Joh 1:12 says that we can become children of God through faith in Jesus a=b and b=c so a then =c We are children of Jesus.. That and Jesus is the one who created ALL things our spirits are part of ALL.. Add that to the fact that our spirits were formed within us (Zech 12:1) Makes it very clear that Jesus made us 100%, that He formed our spirits within our flesh, that we become Him children when we believe in Him..

I didn't know that LDS people had any doctrine at all that showed Jesus to be "Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isa 9:6) I was sure that you relegated Him to a lesser god position not worthy of worship or of prayer.. Yes was always and is always in full agreement with the Father. The Father's will is the will of Jesus. I know you believe it was Jesus who spoke to Moses from the burning bush and that Jesus was the Law Giver to Moses on the holy mountain. Jesus was the pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire by night.. It was Jesus who told Moses His name "I AM" YHWH.. Why is is not correct to call myself His child?

The Bible says God chooses those Born of Him. It is not an accident of birth or a matter of being taught by men.. God draws all those who will come to Him, and those that come are NEVER cast out.. (John 6:37).. These are those born as children of God by faith in Jesus.. There is no word of any authority of men being use in these passages this is all the work of God.. All men are invited LDS, Catholic, Baptist, Muslim it doesn't matter.. All that is required is faith in Jesus. Then God will recreate you into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).. Religion is NOT required, just faith in Jesus..

You say that my Doctrine is not supported in the Scripture but here I have done that again and again supporting all I have said with scripture.. You have not done so, why not? You say it is supported by modern Revelation, Ok why would modern revelation have a different message than the Bible? God does not change does He? Is the Goal (Our salvation) always shifting so that we can never know we have eternal life? That is Why John wrote his first epistle In 1 John 5:13 he explains it:

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

Yet what I say isn't supported by the Bible.. I teach these things as well as the scriptural fact that there is no changing in God:

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Sorry but all you have is your modern revelation.. That is the word of one man. My doctrine that I share is all SCRIPTURE. I don't offer it unless it is backed up in the Bible.. IHS jim

IHS jim, When were you baptized and by whom were you baptized and for what purpose?

Since my baptism was for the purpose of being a public testimony of my acceptance of Jesus as my Lord and savior, celebrating His cleansing me of sin, I am happy to tell you.. I was baptized in the Name of God in August of 1980. This was by the hand of a child of God a humble man a priest and king unto God. He was empowered by the Holy Spirit (Rev 1:6, Acts 1:eight) His name was Austin Meekings.. He has passed now.. I miss him but I will soon join him as worship Jesus with Him before the mercy seat(Rev 4:10).. Is there anything else you wish to know about that ordinance? IHS jim

Despite how rigid and literal you seem to be with biblical interpretations, you seem very liberal with dishing out the phrase "deny the deity of Christ." Saying you don't think He turned water into wine hardly constitutes denying the deity of Christ.

And as I said, she has written that Christ was Yahweh. Can't see how that denies His deity.

I don't deny baptism, or the gift of the Holy Spirit.. I agree that baptism is commanded by Jesus. It's an easy thing to do so I say obey.. Just do it.. I will say that is this ordinance could was our sins away rather than by God's grace as we pray to Him asking for forgiveness then Jesus died in vain.. All that we really needed is a good bath?! No, forgiveness requires proof of death!

It is no small matter to be forgiven all it cost was the life of Jesus the Son of God.. I can think of a full household of people and a thief hanging on a cross that didn't have baptism when they were saved (Acts 11:15, Luke 23:43).. It is clear that God has the power to bring people to a saving knowledge of Jesus without any other outside conditions.. As you know For the remission of sins can mean because of.. "I studied hard for the math test" The study didn't bring the test. It was because of the test.. Just as I was baptized for (BECAUSE OF) the remission of sins..

You don't have to agree with that interpretation. I just ask you to understand that that such a meaning is possible.. I was baptized for that reason.. Because God have given me remission of sins, and made me His child.. IHS jim

Did Jesus cliam to be God, Are you telling that the Father is not God? Since Jesus never came out and said that He isn't yhr Father if there is a passage that says that He is then your point is mute..

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Are you going to tell me this passage is NOT about Jesus? You passage in Matthew tells us that He hold His deciples to be His family.. I have no problem with that..

Here the Greek is saying God to my dear friends, More than just friends but the way close friends feel a brotherhood between them. Mary understand this to mean to the deciples and she obeied.. bwing High Priest Jesus has more than the sin offering to make.. He had to make each of the commanded offereing to God and He was at this time still doing them..

To accept that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I would have to explain false prophecies, (David Witmere, An address to all Believers in Christ, P 31) I would have to expalin why his teachings as contray to the teachings of the Bible(History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 473).. How can I put my trust in a prophet who doesn't know the real authotity of his prophecies, or from that same man that teaches there are more Gods than the ONE God the Bible teaches.. How can you?

I know that God has parepared a place for me in His house. He has promise that where He is I may also be. He said if it were not so He would have told me..

John 14:2-3

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

That covers "eternal progression" since there is no gift greater than beig with God.. Now marriage is the same kind of thing.. Jesus said that those who inhereit life will be like the angels in heaven (Matt 22:30) You can say all day long as you look at that verse :See you have to do it while you are on earth or you can't recieve the blessing" But the angels in heaven are NOT married at all. In this way will will be like them.. Does this mean we won't be with those we love.. NO!! we won't love any less we just won't have the need to procreate.. Just what do you think being with our loved ones is all about, sex? To be sex isn't love. But then again you may think that is all here is to love. I am not your judge.. Priesthood... Show me where the Scripture tells us that it is the power to act in God's name.. It just isn't SO!!! Priesthood is always about sacrifice never about authority. You LDS priesthood is an invention of Joseph Smith.. In the Bible there is no such authority.. Authority is all about being an heir of the estate of your father.. This is the authority of the believer.. Our priesthood is to offer the sacrifice required on our office:

Heb 13:15

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

I know you have testimony that the LDS church is the only way to God.. I insist that Jesus is that Way.. I know you have a testimony that Joseph Smith is a prophet and everything he said and taught is from God.. I say that when a man ever speaks in the name of other GODS (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 473) he can still be held up to the world as a prophet of the one true God? No one in this world can claim to me a priest after the order of Aaron. There is no way to prove their right to the priesthood. Those documents were all destroyed with the Temple in AD 70. Anyone who takes this priesthood for his own is a thief and a robber(John 10:1) Jesus is the only way to God.. There is NO OTHER WAY. No matter how much you think you deserve entrance no one may enter except by Jesus. He is the ONLY Way, the only truth, the only life.. No man comes to the Father but by Him.. Not by baptism, not by marriage, not by laying on of hands, not by church membership, not my temple endowment, and NOT BY PRIESTHOOD only in and through Jesus.. Any more than this is heresy, and apostasy.. It is the spirit of anti-christ.. IHS jim
