Cause of BY's death?

So can you tell us why consecrated oil would be considered the best? I mean, what properties of consecrated oil are more conducive to, you know... cleansing.

I just figured if it had been consecrated that automatically raised its...um...value...you know...for healing and all.

So, would this be a priesthood ordinance that has since been discontinued?

Mike,

I got to say even though we get into some barking battles, you have got some of the more interesting threads on the board. I don't know how you came across this but I am sure it's a good story.

Thanks DC. :P

I found it by searching "anus" in my New Mormon Studies CD.

I was planning to do a blog post on the "laying on of anus" typo in the 1992 Spanish edition of the BoM.

What Mike is failing to mention is that the practice of using consecrated oil for this procedure began after this particular incident:

I am relieved to find that gastro-intestinal humor has been a time-honored tradition from the earliest days of the Church.

You guys need to take care of some old folks to get a dose :P of reality.

Yes, but the real question is whether BY's plural wives felt that they were authorized to perform this ordinance.

I did with my mom and dad. They told the most obscene jokes yet while they were going #2.

It was shortly after this that Brigham essentially threatened to turn the wagon train around.

Evidently, the usual response when gastro-intestinal humor gets out of hand while traveling is also a time-honored tradition ("you think I do these Exodus' for me? I swear I'll turn this wagon train around...").

I think I just realized where the term "covered wagon" for a certain esoteric marital initiation right came from.

BTW...how "relieved" are you?

At last, we have come to the bottom of the church's homophobia

C'mon...this is just going to ruin the fun.
