I'm aware of the concept of parallels between the sefirot and Biblical figures.

Sefer haYetzirah mentions seven planets, which are not corelated with the sefirot.

Kabbalistic astrology is a modern construct.

On pg. 184 of Aryeh Kaplan's translation of Sefer Yetzirah he mentions the correlation between planets and sefirot.

The correspondences shown in the diagram I posted above (between sefirot and planets that is) can be found in Agrippa's Occult Philosophy, Book III, Chap. 10. That would have been more likely to have had an influence on early Mormon temple design than books that had not yet been translated from Hebrew to English in the mid 19th century.

If the sefirot in Sefer Yetzirah aren't obviously "kabbalistic" then at least there's plenty there to suggest their later interpretations.

I find comparisons of the sefirot/tree of life to the arrangement of animals in Gen. 15 or the layout of the temple (or human anatomy) to be quite interesting.

I just took a look at Agrippa. I don't see where the correspondences are.

Agrippa mentions several divine names in order and attributes a sefirah and a planet to each, among other things. Here's the one regarding Saturn:

Divine persons, by whose commands all things are made, but are executed by the other

seven, which are therefore called the numerations framing.The

third name is called Tetragrammaton Elohim; his numeration is named Prina [i.e. Binah], viz.

providence and understanding, and signifies remission, quietness, the Jubilee, penitentiall

conversion, a great Trumpet, redemption of the world, and the life of the world to come;

it is attributed to the Holy Spirit, and hath his influence by the order of the thrones, or

which the Hebrews call Aralim, that is great Angels mighty and strong, and from thence

by the sphere of Saturn administereth form to the unsettled matter, whose particular

intelligence is Zaphchiel, the ruler of Noah, and another intelligence named Iophiel the

ruler of Sem; and these are three supream and highest numerations as it were seats of the

Divine persons, by whose commands all things are made, but are executed by the other

seven, which are therefore called the numerations framing.

I first read Bro. Larsons's books in the late 80's. He

Are you kidding me? this is a great site. I only wish he gave footnotes, I would like to see what his sources were...but this guy understands his stuff as far as symbolism

Failure to acknowledge, as the Apostle Peter taught, that the world that then was ... perished (2 Peter 3:6) and the heavens and the earth, which are now (2 Peter 3:7) are vastly different from the originals has created endless confusion in the sciences and in our understanding of scripture and temple iconography.

It seems few are aware of the notion of world(s) which have passed away, and worlds to come, which to me is a key to understanding many of the esoteric points of the gospel.

Welcome welcome, and I bet you will have tons to contribute. My son was on a mission in Missippi- he was in Biloxi just before Katrina hit, was transferred to Laurel and finished up in Vicksburg, and he loved the people.
