Everyone here is familiar with the usual cows (some are actual cows, in fact): cattle, cows and calves, bulls, asses, horses, oxen, domestic sheep, pigs and elephants, barley, wheat, grapes, olives, swords, chariots, etc..

So, let me get this straight...

A "cow in the tree" is an argument that is so compelling that all other arguments can be disregarded? You then list examples of what you consider "cows in the tree", which I take to mean... arguments that are so compelling that we could disregard any other piece of evidence based solely on these.

Let's take an easy one... olives

The Book of Mormon mentions olives only in a few places: 1 Nephi 10, 1 Nephi 15, and Jacob 5-6. In each case, olives are mentioned only by someone from Jerusalem and only allegorically. So, maybe you were thinking about something else when you mentioned "olives"? Could you please point out why "olives" in the Book of Mormon represent a problem? Frankly, from what I can see, this is a completely bogus argument. And this is something that is supposed to be so compelling that we can disregard everything else?

It seems to me that the only problem here is that your standard for what constitutes a "cow in the tree" argument is a little on the low side.

Apologize to all serious participants of this thread for taking it off-topic. I am actually very interested in what you have to say. It's just that after 36 hours of being awake I tend to think everything is funny.

Well the first problem I see with that map proposal is this...

What are the chances of anyone setting sail from the Arabian pennisula and landing on the eastern coast of the North or South American continent? Doesn't the weather typically travel from west to east?

They'd have to head due south for a few thousand miles and then, after clearing the African continent, suddenly jet N/NW until they landed in what would be the future New England area.

The second problem that those map proposals have is the lack of snow mentioned in the BofM.
