Please Receive My Confession

Recommended Posts

Hmmm, a search on Jared Livesey says he participated in detailed theological debates. For example, he argued about repentance, spiritual perfection, and salvation in a 2019 discussion on the Mormon blog By Common Consent. Other online discussions suggests that his online absence had already attracted attention years ago. A 2026 Covenant Christian Conference website lists Jared Livesey as a speaker in the Denver Snuffer-associated religious community.

He seem to be applying our own standards of repentance and truthfulness to his claims of spiritual knowledge. And uses exceptionally absolute language, "utter and complete ignorance," "I acknowledge I am a fool," and the repeated "if spirits even exist." That intensity makes the post feel like a major rupture rather than an ordinary change of opinion.

It may be sincere, performative, or both. Whether it is a sincere confession, a dramatic exit, or a pointed piece of religious criticism remains uncertain.

Jared is the former poster, Log.  You wouldn’t have known him since he last posted in 2012.

I am fuzzy on any older views he once held.  I need to review some…or just start fresh perhaps…but I like to see how people’s ideas change over time with life and learning.

The Covenant Christians have omitted mention of my talk on their "permanent record," https://restorationarchives.com/events/general-conferences , though they left up the youtube of it:

As for my confession being performative, or, as I understand it, hypocritical, indeed not.  I am indeed blind, having never seen, and cannot serve as anyone's guide in matters pertaining to the gospel.  I'm trying to make the bandage as big as the wound I may have caused.

Even the talk I delivered there is merely but to repeat the words of Christ, as I believe them to be, with minimal introductory statements or contextualizing, coupled with an invitation to be baptized that is in response to another directive I believe to be from Christ.  I figure I can do no harm by repeating the words of Christ, as I believe them to be.

Composing that talk was an interesting and learning experience; it took 45 days.

However, I feel the need to clarify: I am absolutely NOT proselytizing anyone within range of this thread to join the Covenant Christians.  That would be by my standards a no-no.  I refuse to be a foolish and blind guide.

Kind regards,

Jared "Log" Livesey

Is this why you came back here, you think you may have caused some wounds, thus the confession or is there another reason?

The wounds I would have caused would have been to lead men astray in the least matter concerning the Gospel.  As Alma (Jr) said, to lead men astray is to murder them.

Yea, and I had murdered many of his children, or rather led them away unto destruction; yea, and in fine so great had been my iniquities, that the very thought of coming into the presence of my God did rack my soul with inexpressible horror. - Alma 36:14

Now, this is not to say that I have murdered anyone in such a fashion, only that I might have.  Because I think it's better to be safe than sorry in the things of God, I'm trying to reach anyone that would have heard / read my words concerning the Gospel, that they may be disabused of my pretensions to knowledge, or hypocrisy, as I believe the word is meant in the scriptures.  I don't want to come up into the presence of God with anyone's blood upon my garments.

Because I am as yet spiritually blind, if spirits even exist, having never beheld the things of God with my eyes, I literally don't know what I'm talking about, and wish to be free from the guilt of their blood - if that's even a thing.  I believe it is a thing.

There is of course another reason as well.  I suspect I am not the only spiritually blind person, if spirits exist, who has undertaken to teach about the things of God, thus potentially leading men astray and murdering them.  There are very few who openly claim to have seen God, to have knowledge of that which they speak.  Joseph Smith was one, and I believe him.  Those who have not seen God literally don't know what they're talking about, and are blind leaders of the blind, for the sighted have no need of any man to teach them.  If my fellow blind people desire, as I do, to at least do no harm to anyone, and to guarantee that they do no harm in this realm, then maybe they also might rethink their approach to the things of God.

Confession, as they say, is good for the soul.

Kind regards,

Jared "Log" Livesey

I suppose if the desire to be harmless is not sufficient, there is always the argument from self-interest.

Quote

O the wise, and the learned, and the rich, that are puffed up in the pride of their hearts, and all those who preach false doctrines, and all those who commit whoredoms, and pervert the right way of the Lord, wo, wo, wo be unto them, saith the Lord God Almighty, for they shall be thrust down to hell! - 2 Ne 28:15

Well, I'll ask another question: What is a Covenant Christian in your use of that term? I spoke once at Covenant College. I have been to several churches with Covenant in their name. I consider myself a covenantal Christian. So I am uncertain as to what exactly you are referring. Thanks, Navidad

I am, in this, speaking according to my beliefs.

For those who acknowledge Denver Snuffer to be a messenger sent from Heaven, and have signified their belief in that before God and men by submitting to authorized re-baptism, and have said "yes" to the Boise Covenant, "Covenant Christians" are what the Lord has commanded them to refer to each other as, as per this revelation.

Quote

This is what you [Denver Snuffer] shall say to the people: I give to you a name to distinguish you from others, and you shall call one another by this name: COVENANT CHRISTIANS because you have and hold a covenant with me that make you my followers deserving of my protection. But my protection does not only defend, but also corrects, reproves, disciplines and guides you along that you may be mine indeed.

The Boise Covenant is found here: https://scriptures.info/scriptures/tc/section/158

"All the words of the Lord which have been read to you this day" refers to this: https://scriptures.info/scriptures/tc/section/157

That was in answer to this prayer: https://scriptures.info/scriptures/tc/section/156

As I understand it, Covenant Christians are Christians who are distinguished from other Christians in the sight of the Lord by the Boise Covenant.  If they fail to yield obedience to its terms, then there is nothing dividing them from any other Christians, and they shall suffer the same fate as them when the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.

Kind regards,

Jared "Log" Livesey

https://www.covenantchristians.info/ is their website.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_fellowships_of_"the_Remnants"_movement is the wiki page for them. https://scriptures.info/ is their scriptures (the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Teachings and Commandments [overlaps with the Doctrine and Covenants]).

They believe that Joseph and Hyrum were authorized servants but that all splinters (including LDS, CoC, and the others) have apostatized and so a new dispensation was started.

D&C 64

23 Behold, now it is called today until the coming of the Son of Man, and verily it is a day of sacrifice, and a day for the tithing of my people; for he that is tithed shall not be burned at his coming.

24 For after today cometh the burning—this is speaking after the manner of the Lord—for verily I say, tomorrow all the proud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, for I am the Lord of Hosts; and I will not spare any that remain in Babylon.

I believe it is their fate to be burned at the appearing of the Lord - as with all who have heard the Sermon on the Mount and will not obey it as written.  I do not believe "tithed," as used in these verses, has any reference to tithing as practiced in the LDS Church.

Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

D&C 19

15 Therefore I command you to repent—repent, lest I smite you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your sufferings be sore—how sore you know not, how exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not.

16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

17 But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;

18 Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit—and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink—

19 Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

20 Wherefore, I command you again to repent, lest I humble you with my almighty power; and that you confess your sins, lest you suffer these punishments of which I have spoken, of which in the smallest, yea, even in the least degree you have tasted at the time I withdrew my Spirit.

I believe the fires are eternal, that is, unchanging and unyielding, when one is experiencing them.  I do not know if they are of ultimately finite duration or not.

So anyone who has not lived by the Boise Covenant is doomed to burn?  Wouldn’t that be the vast, vast majority of humans who have lived on the earth and never had the chance to hear of it, let alone have it administered to them?  Or do you believe this can happen after death?

Quote

This is the Covenant Ordinance offered by the Lord to all who will receive it. Received by Denver Snuffer Jr., July 2017, and presented for the first time in Boise, Idaho, 3 September 2017, at a Covenant of Christ conference.

Note: This covenant can be received at any time, in any place, by any person who has accepted the Doctrine of Christ. Either an authorized priesthood holder who has previously received The Covenant can administer it, or the recording from the Boise Covenant of Christ Conference can be used. The believer receiving The Covenant may first want to review the words of the Prayer for Covenant before receiving The Covenant. Receiving The Covenant involves having read to them the Answer to Prayer for Covenant, following which they have read to them The Covenant, and then comply with the directions contained therein, answering, Yes, out loud at the appropriate moment.

  1. There are four questions I will read. Please remain seated until the four questions have all been read. If, after you hear all four questions, you can answer, Yes, to all four, then you will be asked to stand and say, Yes, to accept:
  2. First: Do you believe all the words of the Lord which have been read to you this day, and know them to be true and from the Lord Jesus Christ, who has condescended to provide them to you, and do you covenant with Him to cease to do evil and to seek to continually do good?
  3. Second: Do you have faith in these things and receive the scriptures approved by the Lord as a standard to govern you in your daily walk in life, to accept the obligations established by the Book of Mormon and/or Covenant of Christ as a covenant, and to use the scriptures to correct yourselves and to guide your words, thoughts, and deeds?
  4. Third: Do you agree to assist all others — who covenant to likewise accept this standard to govern their lives — to keep the Lord’s will, to succor those who stand in need, to lighten the burdens of your brothers and sisters whenever you are able, and to help care for the poor among you?
  5. Fourth: And do you covenant to seek to become of one heart with those who seek the Lord to establish His righteousness?
  6. If you agree, please stand wherever you are located, either here or in a remote location, to be recognized and numbered by God and His angels.
  7. All those standing please confirm you are willing to accept this covenant by saying, Yes.
  8. Please be seated.
  9. Now, hear the words of the Lord to those who receive this covenant this day:
  10. All you who have turned from your wicked ways and repented of your evil doings, of lying and deceiving, and of all whoredoms, and of secret abominations, idolatries, murders, priestcrafts, envying, and strife, and from all wickedness and abominations, and have come unto me, and been baptized in my name, and have received a remission of your sins, and received the holy ghost, are now numbered with my people who are of the house of Israel. I say to you:
  11. Teach your children to honor me. Seek to recover the lost sheep remnant of this land and of Israel and no longer forsake them. Bring them unto me and teach them of my ways, to walk in them.
  12. And I, the Lord your God, will be with you and will never forsake you, and I will lead you in the path which will bring peace to you in the troubling season now fast approaching.
  13. I will raise you up and protect you, abide with you, and gather you in due time, and this shall be a land of promise to you as your inheritance from me.
  14. The earth will yield its increase, and you will flourish upon the mountains and upon the hills, and the wicked will not come against you because the fear of the Lord will be with you.
  15. I will visit my house, which the remnant of my people shall build, and I will dwell therein, to be among you, and no one will need to say, Know ye the Lord, for you all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
  16. I will teach you things that have been hidden from the foundation of the world and your understanding will reach unto Heaven.
  17. And you shall be called the children of the Most High God, and I will preserve you against the harvest.
  18. And the angels sent to harvest the world will gather the wicked into bundles to be burned, but will pass over you as my peculiar treasure.
  19. But if you do not honor me, nor seek to recover my people Israel, nor teach your children to honor me, nor care for the poor among you, nor help lighten one another’s burdens, then you have no promise from me and I will raise up other people who will honor and serve me, and give unto them this land, and if they repent, I will abide with them.
  20. The time is now far spent, therefore labor with me and do not forsake my covenant to perform it; study my words and let them be the standard for your faith, and I will add thereto many treasures. Love one another and you will be mine, and I will preserve you, and raise you up, and abide with you for ever. Amen.

I am speaking according to my beliefs.

I believe all must be (re-)baptized in token of acknowledgement of the authorized ministry of Denver Snuffer, and that the Boise Covenant is thoroughly optional, but potentially helpful for some.  It is required of all to receive all whom the Lord may choose to send as His messengers, or else they cannot receive Him.

I believe the covenant all mankind must minimally keep to survive the coming of the Lord are His words found in 3 Nephi 5-6 in Covenant of Christ.  I read it in my talk, the YouTube of which is found earlier in this thread.  That is the doctrine of Christ and the Sermon at Bountiful.  Before this, the Book of Mormon version would have been the one that required keeping.

I believe that the wrath of God abides upon all who will [volition, not future indicative] not receive [accept, embrace] Covenant of Christ.

I believe that if one will receive Covenant of Christ, and be baptized in token of obedience to the same, that would suffice to also acknowledge Mr. Snuffer's ministry, just as Jesus came to John for baptism, and afterwards proceeded on His own ministry, led by the Holy Ghost, rather than continuing in John's association or becoming one of John's disciples.

As far as the rest, I don't know how stuff works in the other world, if there is another world.  So I don't know how stuff might get administered to those who died without hearing the gospel, but I would guess it's much like what the LDS believe on the matter - there's just no temple as yet to attend to baptisms for the dead.

Many apologies, but my focus has been more or less solely putting one foot in front of another along the Lord's path as He gave it in the Sermon, letting everything else fade into the background.

Kind regards,

Jared "Log" Livesey
