I’ve been watching libs cheer a murder and mourn a suspension. I hope I am wrong. The entertainment business is tough and people are fired all the time. Kimmel cheered the previous ‘cancellations.’ The hypocrisy is off the charts. Companies, as we’ve been lectured endlessly about, have the right to fire employees. I would not want a teacher in the classroom with my grandkids who cheered an assassination. Bondi was quick to clarify her ‘hate speech’ comments and was called out by the right. The whole framing of the post is from a certain viewpoint perspective. ‘All he said.. ‘ He lied about who killed Kirk to smear those in mourning and purposely spread a lie. Stephen Colbert was fired for losing millions each year. I don’t ever remember her being concerned when conservatives were systematically deplatformed under government pressure. Free speech does not mean you are free from consequences. Kimmel can speak freely but ABC does not need to give him a platform to do it.

Tacenda…a free speech advocate was just assassinated for his beliefs. I read this and was completely dumbfounded. Not only does it ignore the last decade of censorship and canceling of Republicans by private employers under government pressure/organized advertiser boycotts to shut down speech not approved by the left, it also comes off that you are much more concerned with the suspending of Kimmel by his private employers than the actual murder of Charlie Kirk. I read this and thought of what a bubble of news you must be exposed to. If you would like, I will find and list all the government backed censorship campaigns against conservative ideas, individuals and companies of the last decade. Would that be helpful?

They are upset people are celebrating but the reason they celebrate is because of leftists stating he was a fascist, Nazi, hater. According to leftists ‘words are violence’ and once they label you that way, silencing that person is completely acceptable. In a small town in Colorado, the conservative candidates for school board had their campaign signs vandalized with Nazi symbols. The candidates must now be very cautious and increase security. Once they label you a Nazi, you are fair game for violent attacks. I’ve watched for years violent disruptions of conservative speakers on campus, attacks on conservatives at tabling events, attacks on conservatives leaving political rallies. This is, sadly, a natural progression of those who believe conservatives do not have the right to speak. It’s the Antifa mantra.

I am very active on X…does that count? The state removed the rainbow after 9 years. There is still a temporary memorial and Orlando bought the property and they plan to have the permanent memorial completed before the anniversary in 2026. Good things. The removal was controversial but glad to hear plans for the permanent memorial are well underway and the temporary memorial still exists. That was a horrible terrorist attack. The attack on Pelosi was a politicly motivated attack that I condemned at the time. Charlie Kirk was not perfect and while he condemned the attack too, it was not great that he repeated unsubstantiated rumors about it. Political violence must be condemned. He was not hunky dory with the attack. He was not perfect. He was very much in the public eye with thousands of hours of public statements. I am having a very hard time understanding the glee and justification many express about his death including many in my personal friend group. It makes me view them very differently.

You would definitely speak ill of me based on my views then. My uncle was a very bad man but his kids acknowledged his struggles and then talked about the good things they remembered. My daughter in law has struggled because her father served time for rape. The other day she said while he can never be back in her life, she misses the ‘good parts’ of her dad. In some ways, I view this as a part of healing journey. Charlie Kirk held political views you disagreed with. I bet a large portion of America holds those same views. It is nice to realize what issue makes him ‘evil’ in your opinion and deserving of disparagement after being assassinated for his political views. Josh Shapiro’s house was fire bombed for the same reason. These two were also murdered in DC for that reason.

I’ve seen videos like this all day.

When someone dies I usually offer condolences without the but… It’s the decent thing to do. Anyway, it’s pretty awful about this man who, initially lost his pants on video which was showed to world and this mugshot with him in his garments who purposely obstructed the police and had child porn on his devices. It didn’t take long for criticism of Utah and a muted church response to bubble up.

This has turned into a vile discussion. They can’t kill him again.

I can’t believe how many can’t just give condolences without a ‘but.’ This was an awful event for our nation. Political assassinations can’t be normalized. I will quit pushing back on the ‘topics’ people are using to justify his murder. We need to be able to disagree on hot bottom topics without thinking murdering someone is the answer. I am a pro life, conservative Christian who believes in the first and second amendment. If this view deserves death, no words will ever change your mind. Kirk was all about engaging with those who did not believe as he did. They killed him for it.

I am for armed guards at schools and getting to the root of the mental health crisis. Banning guns from the law abiding is not the answer. Denver has seen an increase in stabbing attacks. As a women, being able to be armed whether with mace, a self defense tool or a gun is a right I will not give up. It’s not that I don’t want something done to prevent school shootings but what the gun absolutists want, is against the constitution and the rights we all have to protect ourselves. I live in a high crime state with strict gun laws. Denver has murders every night and roving gangs in suburban neighborhoods at night. In England, there is no legal way for a woman to protect herself from violence. I think that is terrible. It’s fine to discuss these issues civilly. I understand your opinion. But, no one with any moral compass should justify this murder because Charlie Kirk didn’t believe the same things as the liberal left.

He is being realistic. I don’t have issues with the realism he presents here. Alcohol kills far more people. Drunk driving is a scourge. We tried banning it long ago.

Political violence is wrong. A young father was murdered. ‘They’ wish for more. I find some opinions expressed disgusting today after a political assassination. If you side with Antifa, something is very wrong with your moral compass.

Not sure if this is a hobby or not but I was getting bored after my kids grew up and didn't want a 'real' job. I started volunteering. Church callings no longer were taking as much time and I needed something gratifying and fulfilling to do. Cleaning my house and doing 'projects' was not stimulating enough. I highly recommend it!
