  1. Yeah. What is your point? That Christianity deserves praise for being less violent and repressive? I am not convinced that Christianity has a cleaner historical record on this point compared to Islam. Most lgbt advancement has come slowly and almost entirely due to classically liberal governments and is not really due to Christianity. Christianity is still mostly the enemy of the lgbt community. Those who want to shove us into reeducation camps are almost entirely Christians. Those who want to criminalize homosexual behavior are almost entirely Christian. Christians just don’t have a government backing up their homophobia like many Islamic nations do. Many Christians wish they did. Or is it that you wish lgbt people in Islamic nations would satirize Islam and end up in prison?
  2. But you will openly broadcast loudly when one side uses violence and voice whispered and quiet disapproval of violence “on many sides” when the other does.
  3. Are you under the delusion that the lgbt community has a positive view of Islam and what they are doing to our brothers and sisters? What is wrong with you?
  4. That is their article title? LOL! That is serious journalism for you. Love the insinuation that they did it at the Dodgers game. Nice work clickbait writers. And look at these other articles. A pastor being lambasted for reaching out to the lgbt community and saying desires are not sins unless you act on them. Huh, bet they would hate our apostles huh? Might want to get out of the mud if you want to mock people for not being classy.
  5. That works over short distances but you can only travel as far as that supply lasts which isn’t that long. My original comment was in reference to supply shipments you get references to in Captain Moroni’s wars. My guess is those were moved by river as having porters haul food to your army only works if the distances are pretty short. Otherwise your porters are eating more than they are delivering.
  6. Since these are the same people threatening Target employees with violence and death over Pride merchandise displays I think any outrage will do. Their followers are like leashed dogs that can be set on any target by their propagandists. Thankfully their long term memory doesn’t work very well and their boycotts tend to be short-lived and ineffective. Their ability to yell at defenseless employees and walk around with guns intimidating others is the main issue.
  7. As someone who only tuts about one side not showing respect I would think you would find it normal and not ironic at all. You aren’t an enlightened centrist decrying both sides.
  8. CB mentioned it once. I think that is it unless you count Smac mentioning it again as justifying their existence but since Smac started the thread to vilify them I don't think that was the intent there.
  9. Fundraising is not the primary objective of the organization. Their primary objectives are satire and activism and from what I remember pub crawls.
  10. I have it on good authority the sport will finally die after Vulcans start playing it. I like how what cyberpunk future had baseball evolve. They would upload the stats and skills of historical players into the wetware of people’s minds so you could pit historical players against each other. Then you took the programming out after the game.
  11. Weak protests and a sternly worded letter maybe. Something that could be described as a fire? I’ll believe it when I see it.
  12. You do realize the difference right? The difference between mocking an actual organization that was actively oppressing you and just punching down at random minorities? Also this was a political thread starting with the OP. Smac knew exactly what would happen when he started this thread.
  13. Trade can certainly exist but in lighter luxury goods. The problem is that if you are shipping provisions to feed an army you need ships that can use the wind to move them or you need animals and carriages to haul it. You can move food by having people carry it but those people hauling it have to eat. So if they eat half of what they carry on the way you need to move even more. You hit the same problem as you hit with space travel. You add more fuel but then you need more fuel to get the bigger ship moving. Animals mitigate this to a degree but if you are talking about humans moving the provisions you will need a lot of people to carry it all and all of them are eating too. Generally pre-modern armies foraged to get food (polite word for looting the whole area) because moving supplies is impractical even with wagons and ships. Ships work best because you don’t have to feed them. Animals eat too and the better animals often can’t subside just by letting them graze so you have to carry some of their food too. You have accounts of incompetently managed armies in the pre-modern world unable to supply an army within a week’s walk of home. I was just reading of Sparta bungling such a campaign the other day. Without wheels and animals moving bulk foodstuffs would be done by ship or pretty much not at all. Trade would still be possible with luxury goods and light stuff and messengers could cross throughout a larger state but mass food shipments? Not unless they were using ships.
  14. This is not going to light any fires. This whole drama is largely ignored outside of MAGA media and some LGBT media.
  15. You want documentation that the Catholic Church has chucked stones at the LGBT community? Perhaps you would also like documentation that water is wet to go with it?
  16. Their ministry was and is a huge success. This controversy probably has the dollars rolling in. They should thank Senator Rubio for the free publicity.
  17. But they might make some Catholics feel bad or uneasy so who can really say if they are good or evil?
  18. They presumably checked their notes and realized that Marco Rubio is a senator from Florida and not California. They then looked quickly to figure out what Florida was up to, were horrified, and then quickly reversed the decision. If Florida Man SenatorMan is for it then it is undoubtedly terrible advice.
  19. It is easy to make a toy wheel. It takes training and tools to make a wheel that can carry weight. Also without good roads the wheel might not be much of an improvement. If the wheel breaks the handcart (or whatever) is a liability and you would prefer the sledge.
  20. Without wheels and animals to pull things all the talk of sending provisions in the Book of Mormon don’t make much sense. Unless they were using river (or ocean) transport I suppose.
  21. We would be kept around until they didn’t need us anymore. After that the only question is if they burn us first or start with the Catholics.
