Yes!!  I expect that "mak[ing] all things new" is something we will participate in, and that it will not only heal but actually transform ("make new") the past.

The teaching that "God will remember our sins no more" (which shows up in Jeremiah, in Hebrews, and in the D&C) imo implies something vastly beyond our limited concept of forgiveness.  It implies something wonderful, even if we don't yet know what that something is.  I think there is more "good news" (<- "gospel") yet to come forth.

So God will alter and restrict our memories yet again? Is there any end to this stripping of identity?

Why seek exaltation if it won’t actually be me that gets it in the end?

I think the transformation is something WE do, and that it is a re-interpretation rather than "God altering and restricting our memories".  I think we will see things as they really are, or at least be presented with the opportunity to see things as they really are, and I think that will be transformational.

Imo there is much "yet to be revealed" about who and what we really are, but I do not think anything is forced on us against our will.   Imo it is an expanding of one's identity rather than a stripping of one's identity.

I don't think we get to bring darkness and negativity with us into exaltation.  So if a person treasures and identifies with "their" darkness and negativity (such as "I am the one who is always the recipient of injustice"), I presume they get to choose when that perception is no longer worth preserving and defending.

All of this is just my opinion and I have zero authority in anyone's eyes.
