Sermon on the Mount - two messages for different groups?

It's an opinion based on Joseph's version adding  sentences which are not there.

I recently received this book from Amazon.

Joseph Smith made significant additions and modifications to the Hebrew and Greek
manuscripts in his new translation of the Bible. Whole pages are literally added
to Genesis. The differences are displayed with the use of columns. The newer
editions are a few hundred pages larger after they added some extra topics: The
Plan of Salvation, the Fall, etc.   ( ISBN-13 978-0830900329 )

I wonder if all the hundreds of Quorums of the Seventies in the LDS Church do the
same.

Thank you, but I'm not seeing the connection between (a) making "significant additions and modifications" to the Bible account (it is not clear the source of this quote--Amazon?), (b) translating a similar account in 3 Nephi from the plates (or however you believe 3 Nephi came about) and (c) believing the Greek manuscript lacked accuracy, and that these cast doubt on the Bible. Did he believe this before wondering whether, discovering or concluding that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly, given his experience with the Book of Mormon?

Is your concern with Joseph Smith's effort "to present a more correct version of the Bible," or that His version of Matthew 5 -7 differs from the King James Version, or that the similar events recorded in 3 Nephi and Mathew (whether his or the KJV) differ?

My impression is that Joseph Smith did not believe in the accuracy of the Hebrew and
Greek manuscripts he had, so he felt the need to produce a more correct Bible by adding
more pages and sentences. He even changes words (such as in Revelation 5:6, thereby
laying the groundwork for teaching something not in the original.

Yes, Joseph Smith's work on the two sermons is part of a more general theme of carrying out the Lord's will in relation to His restored Church.
