PortalToParis Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 I remember distinctly that several years ago (less than 20 years ago) there were two general conference talks given by two different speakers (probably not in the same general conference) in which they both stated something to the effect of, "A mother who cares for her children in the home makes a full contribution." or "No mother should feel she must work outside the home in order to contribute fully to the family." I think that both times the speakers were men. There hasn't been any repeat of that kind of line in the conference talks I've heard in the years since (but I haven't watched them all). I've looked for the quotes but they didn't surface in my search. Any help to find them would be much appreciated.
Calm Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 (edited) Need to get back to sleep, but you might want to try https://www.lds-general-conference.org for searching on a particular word or phrase….it goes up to October 2023. Here is a list of similar collections that might be helpful for other searches for future reference for you and anyone else looking for quotes. https://atom.lib.byu.edu/msr/browse/?category=29 Edited March 26, 2024 by Calm 1

Hinkley’s October 2003 talk titled, “To the Women of the Church?” Count your blessings; name them one by one. You don’t need a great big mansion of a house with an all-consuming mortgage that goes on forever. You do need a comfortable and pleasant home where love abides. Someone has said that there is no more beautiful picture than that of a good woman cooking a meal for those she loves. Weigh carefully that which you do. You do not need some of the extravagances that working outside the home might bring. Weigh carefully the importance of your being in the home when your children come from school. And as you surely must know, there are many such quotes from General Conference addresses prior to your 20 year timeframe. Edited March 26, 2024 by teddyaware 2
