Funny Incident at the Pizza Joint

I frequent a Pizza joint that's open after midnight because of my irregular sleep hours. Last night I had my Quran with me to read as I waited for my food. The waitress asked if I was working. I told her no, I'm reading the Quran. So she asked me if I was Muslim.

I said, "No, I'm Mormon, but we are a small minority, and Muslims are a small minority in the USA, so we're making an alliance to protect religious freedom. Our leaders told us to read the Quran so we can understand them better."

She said she memorized part of the Quran in Arabic for her prayers, but she has no idea what the hell she was memorizing. She likened it to how little kids sing songs that they don't know the meaning of.

So I asked her where she was from, and she said Turkey. She's Muslim but since she got married to the cashier, she's been going to church, and reading the Bible. I go there frequently but never new they were married. She has read the Quran in Turkish.

She asked,

"So you are Christian?
"Yes, I've read the Bible."
"Then you will understand the Quran better than Muslims. It talks about many stories in the Bible but very short. Don't tell Muslims I said that, they will kill me." 

While saying it, she did a gesture where she slit her throat. She said that since she's been going to church she understands the Quran better. 

I responded, "Yeah, when I first started reading, I was like, 'I don't know how a Muslim would understand what's going on if they hadn't read the Bible.'"

She told me a lot of other stuff too. When I finished my food and went up to pay, the cashier, who heard our conversation, said, "So you're a Christian and you're reading the Quran to talk to Muslims?" I said, "I'm Mormon. Doing this to understand Muslims better."

Then he said, "I read the Quran and I still don't understand my wife."

Ah, trying to convert the married Muslim women and get her to divorce, I knew that's how you Mormons operate. Home wreckers.

Wow.  Looks like she has a better understanding of her husband than he of her!
