Hello, I'm new here and new to the church

I'm new here and on here I might occationaly go by the name:  Jessica otherwise go by SteelMagnolianTexas.  I just wanted to introduce myself and right now this is the only place I can post, for some reason.  I've been a Texan my whole life, but lived in other areas too like Louisianna Washington State, near Chicago, IL and Oregon.  I love the West Coast, especially up near the Puget Sound.

I have a general question:

Does anyone think time travel is possible?  I've started pondering it because there is a movie out called "Somewhere in Time".  Also, Einstein in an article explained why it is possible to travel in time.  What do people think about this?  The movie is not recently out, but it is about a young woman who fell in love with a young man, but there is probably fourty years or more between them.  The man went back in time to see the woman twice because he could not find the love he so desired in the present day.

I have always been interested or intriqued with antiquity, especially the Bible and our own recent past (about the time of the Titanic).  Can anyone relate?

I don't think time travel is or will be part of our earthly experience.   We each need to come unto Christ and be perfected in Him in our own world and with the experiences into which we are born, and which we choose for ourselves.    I do think there will likely be a time when we know about others of God's people on other planets or in places we don't know about yet.   But our earthly experiences are intend to help us become like our heavenly parents and Savior and that is in the here and now that we live out that and become like Them.

We know time (rate at which Time elapses) is not a constant, because it is affected by gravity. With enough motion we can already accelerate forward in time, but not backward. The greater your motion through space, the less your motion through time. At 99,99% speed of light, one a second for you is around 19,6 hours. So, one minute would be 1176hrs, one hour of your travel is 70560hrs on Earth.

To go back we would need to know enough about gravity and blackholes. We currently don't haven't the power to alter a black hole if we even had access to one. We'd probably have to get lucky to find a naturally formed wormhole (two blackholes that connected at some point and drifted apart) and have different rates of time, so that the time at either end would be different. At least in theory.

The aliens in the film Contact were able to create wormholes so the effects of her space flight won't take forever on earth to see her back, and they spent hours with her, and sent her back in time to the instant she left.

I always thought God might be a Higher dimensional being outside time. But its not necessarily the case, the scriptures only put Him in a place in which time is not much of a factor, as it is for us.

i agree with rpn,

I think time is too importantly interlaced with the purpose of our earthly life and time travel would mess around with how we progress, learn, and grow. Think about if you could go back in time to fix some mistake and make your life work out exactly how you want it to. Or think about the endlessly disastrous results if time travel got into the wrong hands. Time is far too complicated and valuable for us to let unworthy individuals to just mess with.

Uuuhm.  Yeah.  Well if everything that was sapposed to happen and already is then people from the past or future already are messing with us.  I even met a guy on the streets of El Paso who said he was a time traveler.

God himself confused the languages because we were building a tower that would reach up to heaven and he said "nothing is impossible for them."

Right now I don't have time for it, nor do we have the technology for it, but in the future anything is possible.
