While they endured a lot they seemed to go to pieces over other stuff like Kirtland’s “not-a-bank”. Their dedication to scripture got them the book of Moses but there were always complaints and dissensions. How many apostles have become disaffected in the first 10 years of Church History compared to the last century? I am not denying there were people of strong faith back then but there were also camp followers....much like today. 2

Maybe I am completely wrong about the reasons for the current lack of canonized revelation. I just don't believe it is because the current (past 100 years) leadership is out of touch with God.

One of those personalities that come once every Millenium or so. I do believe more is coming and has continued to come. Things are changing. Doctrines are subtly being introduced and our understanding of them increased. It just does not need to be canonized. An unwieldy canon filled with administrative trivia and minor things would be more a hindrance then a help to most members. 2

Why should we expect God to give us more when we treat so lightly what he has given us? How many members have even read through one full book of scripture the past five years? I bet it's a small number. How are we doing carying for the poor or the needy? How are we doing loving others? There's lots of good reasons to not expect major revelations beyond primarily structural ones. Edited July 23, 2019 by clarkgoble 2
