If we could take away every deadly microbe away today new ones would just take their place. The first microbes had excessive heat, light, exposure to radiation, and other microbes to contend with. The ones that out reproduced won that battle. When they divide the parent doesn't live forever. Life appeared pretty early in earth's history about 3.7 Billion years ago. Always fun talking to you. Knowing the role that microbes play in the formation of soil, Adam could have used them to prepare the land for other life forms as they appeared. I sometimes think of the Fall in terms of of supplanting rules of life in paradise with the rules of death in an antiutopia. Things could have played out just as fallen nature shows us (in cosmological, biological and other scientific terms), and Adam, struggling to master his dominion under this new set of rules (which fortunately included survival instructions), took a long, long time to see his dominion,most of which he had absolutely no control over, arrive at a point to support a posterity that could bear fruit (physically and spiritually) in this earth, which could be that moment where he could first establish the covenant among them in 6000 BC. The underside of fig trees are rough. When disturbed or punctured they exude a y gel-like substance. Fig leaves sewed together and don for coverings would have been very sticky and uncomfortable to wear. Fortunately we have settlements over 7,000 years old.
